I still can't work out why this little treasure isn't fully booked every time I eat there. The food is amazing, the flavours intense and authentic. For two people we have more then enough food, leave utterly satisfied wishing we could fit more in and...More

We enjoyed Rijsttafel whilst living in Holland some time ago. 1945 is a great find with authentic dishes and nice ambience. Mud Crab is a speciality and tastes brilliant - just be prepared for the mess.

This is a lovely Restaurant, some might think it pricey but its not, its all relative in the Sydney market place, and the work that goes into such a great meal is worth paying for.  They serve some wonderful and exotic flavoured food from the...More

We visited 1945 with 2 other friends on friday. We liked the contemporay asian decor, it looks quite polished. it gives the impression of a quality restaurant. The drinks took some time to order and arrive. I agree with the other reviewer; they had no...More

I have been here several times and the food is always good. Small portions with small prices so you can taste lots of dishes. I was there for 3 1/2 hours tonight and at $40 a head, it was awesome.

Don't go here if you want spicy and fiery Sumatran food, this restaurant serves exquisite and mildly flavored sundanese food, fit for the courts and high places of West-Java. Rijsttafel is not my fave way of enjoying Indonesian food, we all had our choice of...More

I went with a couple of friends during the Mudgee Uncorked Wine Festival. For a licenced restaurant, I expected the waitperson who knows his wine, but that wasn't the case. Food was nice, and I like the serving method, but portion could be better. Overall,...More

Description
1945 is a restaurant specialising in Dutch East Indies cuisine. Dutch East Indies was the Dutch colony that is now modern Indonesia. The Dutch colonial feast, Rijsttafel (literally translates to Rice Table) was invented during the era to showcase the abundance of exotic spices of the Indonesian archipelago, and it remains popular even after the country’s independence in 1945. Inspired by Rijsttafel, here at 1945 we are reliving the era to bring to you the finest of cuisines that pay homage to various regions of Indonesia. Served in small servings, one can savour the many distinct flavours, colours and textures of the vast array of dishes spanning from classic popular to unknown hometown fares in just one sitting. 1945 invites you to take a journey back in time, and to taste the rich blend of Indonesia’s vibrant cultures on a plate.
