My wife and I tried this establishment and although the flavors were good, there were more expensive than it actually tastes. We had better gelato elsewhere.

We have tried many branches of this chain and it always hits the spot. Creative delicious flavors. You can even pay by app. Sweet.

If you're having a party (for any age group), then the most delectable and beautifully crafted gelato cakes are to be found here. If you are sauntering around Darlinghurst during the day or evening, you'll find a queue to join which will take you inside to buy whichever flavour or colour combination you like - or enjoy a trial test... I was a three-times-a-week customer by the time Messina became really popular. I had been working up to that level for a while since it first established itself in Darlo. Yes, it has interesting combos of flavours and textures, but I always walk away feeling REALLY thirsty, quite full and MUCH poorer. I think some of the more commercial brands... More

Had a double scoop - Salted Caramel & Chocolate Peanut Butter. Flavours were great but what really stood out was the texture of the ice cream, which was very smooth. Do look out for their specials from time to time too.

Has to be the best gelato I have eaten outside of Italy. The joy of Messina is partly due to the sense of abundance and extravagance that beacons one to gaze into the multicolored extravaganza of the cabinets. Last time I stood beside two small children that were mesmerized by the display. The staff are so friendly and well trained... More

Staying in Darlinghurst

Neighbourhood Profile
Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney, Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and 1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning. Vintage lovers flock to Crown Street, and small designer boutiques can be found along Victoria and Bourke Streets. Dining in Darlinghurst is a gastronomic adventure. Food from all over the world is on the menu, from American ribs to tapas, sushi to gelato and every ethnicity in between.
