We enjoyed our family dinner and the dishes were good and tasty but there was not a single dish that stood out as a wow dish. I expected more especially for the price paid.

Red Lantern will be on my must do list for every visit to Sydney from now on. The venue is sophisticated and warm, the staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and the food... Mouth wateringly delicious. We ordered the Hanoi Hungwe so we could sample a...More

We had starters, mains, desserts and every dish was just incredible. All food was very fresh, not greasy at all and portion sizes were generous too - making up for the slightly higher prices (which are completely justified). Definitely a must go to for anyone...More

Red Lantern is a Luke Nguyen/ Mark Jensen marvel. It never fails to impress and is always consistent in quality. It’s a superbly ran tried and tested restaurant and the success boils down to the best of everything when you visit. From service, to food,...More

There is one thing I can say about this restaurant and that is the food is always fresh. The staff are amazingly friendly but it doesn't have the upbeat hip component I have grown to love from Sydney restaurants.

Had degustation menu at $75 per person. Three types of entrees, 4 mains. Plenty of food and left full. Did not have a booking but was able to get two seats for 6pm dinner. Used Entertainment card and no issue to get discount.

We had the set lunch banquet which was absolutely to die for. We will be back! The food was serviced efficiently but with time between each dish to really enjoy the amazing flavours.

Home of the small bar revolution in Sydney,
Darlinghurst has more bars per capita than any other
suburb. Themes range from American whiskey bars and
1950’s theme bars to hidden bars requiring secret
passwords. Oxford Street is the "Gay Capital" of
Australia, where gay and lesbian-friendly venues
feature “diva shows” and dancing until the morning.

Set within a designer space reminiscent of French Colonial Vietnam, Red Lantern on Riley mixes the nostalgia of Indochine with the personal quirkiness of the Nguyen family. The restaurant is owned and operated by chefs Luke Nguyen and Mark Jensen, and Luke's sister Pauline Nguyen. With a focus on shared dishes, an evening at Red Lantern on Riley is an experience best enjoyed with friends and family.
