The food at Longrain is generally of a high standard, and have been going for many years. It is certainly one of the best Thai restaurants in Sydney (when it comes to food). But each time, it is a bit like enduring a marathon: the...More

I was recently reminded at Longrain, that I have been going to this Sydney Institution for nearly 20 years. Since the day it opened it's doors, there has been nothing but consistency in food and service. It's longevity is testament enough!! I look forward to...More

This was our first time at Long Grain in about 10 years and it didn’t disappoint! The space itself is awesome - a large cavernous room with some original features from when it was a warehouse. Seating is mostly at long communal tables and thankfully...More

Trendy restaurant in Surey Hills with decent (fusion) Thai food. Bigger tables in that place, so you might not find a cosy romantic spot for 2. Moreover, the place is really noisy when busy. Difficult to have a decent conversation, you have to shout at...More

When we asked about Longrain at our hotel, we were assured that we could dine together at a table for us as a couple. Forget it at Longrain! We were placed on long tables with people we didn’t know and that arrangement immediately adversely influenced...More

We visited Longrain after 5+ years since our last visit. There were four of us and we shared two entrees, delicious spring rolls, two mains and and veggie dish and then finished off with a beautiful desert each. Two cocktails and three beers between us...More

This restaurant is in an obscure location with no protruding signage, so you don't realise you're there until you are pretty much at the front door. The restaurant has very subtle lighting (too dark for my liking) and has a large floor space with long...More

Whenever I go to Sydney or Melbourne, I always make time to have a drink or dinner at Longrain. On this occasion, a friend and I sat in the new high table section right at the entry to Longrain - not ideal seating, but we...More

Longrain Sydney is located at 85 Commonwealth St in Surry Hills. Inspired by the communal eating philosophy of the Asian table, our menu is made up of dishes created for sharing. Longrain's menu has evolved from Martin Boetz's original Longrain vision, bringing South East Asian influences to carefully sourced ingredients with fresh, zingy flavours. His vibrant menu is carefully balanced with wines and cocktails chosen by restaurateur Sam Christie. Our long, shared tables encourage the spirit of eating together, so you can try each dish as part of a full tasting experience, just as it was intended (limited reservations available). Book one of our individual tables for parties between 6 - 10 people; or Private Dining Room for 12-18 guests.
