One of our favourite spots to stop for coffee, or a snack, and rest weary legs. It has a small shop front, but a beautiful courtyard out the back to sit in the shade and enjoy. They serve great tea, coffee and pastries, and sweet snacks. It has a lovely atmosphere. It is in Argyle street in the heart of... More

Wandering around the circular quay and the rocks we came across this patisserie what a find. We are all lovers of French pastries so we did try them. We were not disappointed but very happy with the quality and price of what was on offer. Could have stayed there all day eating. The coffee was good the staff most welcoming... More

Stopped by for a continental breakfast and we were not disappointed. The tea and coffee was excellent and the Chocolate croissant and plain crossaint were wonderful.

Merci beaucoup Anne! We love our croissants too... especially when they are warm out of the oven :) They're made on site each day, and hand-rolled with love. Kind regards La Ren More

La Renaissance is located in the middle of The Rocks neighborhood. The pastries, quiches, and rolls are really incredible. They have a beautiful courtyard in the back to sit and enjoy your food. We enjoyed this cafe so much that we returned 3 days in a row. We loved this cafe.

Phenomenal pastries and quiche! We ate here twice on a recent trip in Sydney. Cute little place in the Rocks. Sit outside. The coffee and hot chocolates were delicious too.

I dropped by yesterday afternoon and got the last pie. There is no pricing on the hot pastries only on the desserts. My friend got the sausage roll $6 for takeaway and $6.50 for dining in. I purchased the last pie - beef borgonoin for $8. I was shocked at this price which was very steep for just a meat... More

Thanks for your comments, travelchick119. Our pies are made on site each day, using French puff pastry, and no shortcuts taken with preparing the fillings - hence we are a little more expensive than other places, who use margarine and cheap meat, or buy the pies in from a factory. We hope your friend enjoyed the sausage roll. Regards La... More

Great position, with the Overseas passenger Terminal and the Museum of Contemporary Art close by. Has an easy relaxed atmosphere, efficient and friendly table service, with reasonable value for money. Definitely recommend giving it a go!

There is so much hype about this French cafe and we just have to give it a try. As we were there an hour before closing time, savory foods were sold out. In the end we tried one of their tart and cake together with their coffee. An average cake costs around AUD9 which is considered very expensive to me... More

Hello Jolene, and thanks for coming in! We use only the best ingredients for our cakes, including imported chocolate and fruit purees from France, but always do our best to keep prices competitive. The best time of day to come for savouries is between 10am - 2.30pm... so we hope to see you back in store soon :) Kind regards... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
