Gleaming translucent fishes are elegantly draped across hand-formed ovals of vinegared rice, then dressed with toppings so small they appear to be in miniature. I’m sitting at the sushi bar at Shiki, one of Sydney’s oldest Japanese restaurants, with more than three decades of experience under their obis. I’m dining with a friend who comes here often, so I’ve left... More

Based upon the recommendation of the Concierge at the Four Seasons, I took my family of 5 for dinner. The atmosphere felt dirty, was dark and we felt as if we were in a cheap Japanese restaurant. The price of the food was extremely high ($24 for a Sushi roll with 6 pieces) so we had to order two rolls... More

We were there very recently and were among the first to be there ...we were told by our hotel that this was one of the best sushi restaurants in Sydney ...so we went early as we were warned that they would only keep tables reserved about 10 min over reservation time . We were on time and ordered traditionally sushis... More

Been there a few times. Always on the pricey side but food & service is good and they have nice private dining room. This time we walked in without booking but found a table. It was close to 9 pm and they didn't close until 10:30. However that night the restaurant was understaffed and those few left seemed to be... More

This was our second time to eat here and it was even better than the first time. The food was brilliant. Tasty and beautifully presented. Service was good, a little slow, but we were not in a hurry. I can't wait for my third visit.

We had booked a nice table for dinner but unfortunately I could only get a table at the balcony. When we arrived we had greeted and showed to our table. Being summer I would recommend the outside as it attracted to moths and flies. The food was fine until we found a piece of hair..We tried to find a staff... More

I picked this restaurant based on Zomato review. It is one of the top scorers around the Rocks. My husband and I ordered a tasting menu set (AUD 145 p.p.) and a grills wagyu beef with pink salt. I think the food quality of the tasting menu is okay - some dishes are so-so (esp. the appetizers - they are... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
