We had never heard of "Pony" and decided to stop in for lunch based just on its curb appeal and interesting menu. It was a great, and lucky, decision. We enjoyed four small plates, with each one being beautifully and deliciously prepared. They included a kangaroo--thinly sliced and cooked to medium rare with nice sauce; an octopus that was as... This was only my second time dining at Pony Lounge. Something about this sassy restaurant is quite classy and understated; it's sort of rustic and sort of cool all at the same time. Food was divine. We shared several entree plates (there was 8 of us) and they were inhaled in no time! The oysters were fresh and large. Delish!... More

Arrived for dinner and the restaurant was very busy. Very helpful waiter and we ordered the T-Bone steak to share with salad and fries. Were told it took 35 mins to prepare and so we had nibbles while we waited. When it arrived it was enormous and well worth the wait. Really a fabulous piece of beef and beautifully cooked.... More

Atmosphere is very cool, great tasting tapas, I would have the salmon again and the mango and lemon cheese cake was different but so good.

My wife and I were drawn to this place by the decor and smell. It is a beautiful place but they didn't have the steak we wanted so we had the waitresses recommendation. The steak was tasty, overcooked and not worth the cost. If you are a steak house type restaurant you need to nail it. Maybe they didn't have... More

It was a cold night in winter and the restaurant sat us outside but had plenty of heat lamps. The wait staff were great and very attentive. The food options may not be great for vegans or vegetarians as the menu seemed limited.

Great food, Great service and excellent atmosphere. I would give this place 10 out of 10 EXCEPT the toilet is 50 yards up an ally in a public shopping mall and as it's a public toilet it was dirty and no hand dryer so there was toilet paper all over the floor where people had dried their hands with it.... The venue was chosen by visitors out of town and it's in a great location. On arrival we were told the table wasn't ready but as we were a few minutes early and a party of 8 this was understandable but there was no waiting area (also understandable given the location). I'm not a fan of communal dining. As with... More

We visited for dinner and were lucky to get a table. The place was full after we sat down with others being turned away. Good sign. Nice selection of various cuisines on offer, some cooked on the wood fire where apt. Very cheerful and helpful waitress but she was quick to dispatch two bottles of wine topping up our glasses... My family announced an engagement here. It worked out so lovely and I have no regrets at all with the choice of venue, which is saying something as there's a lot of expectation on a night like that. Menu was well thought out, wine menu was a little limited. Food delicious! Tapas style and small main was good portion. A... More

Staying in The Rocks

Neighbourhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighbourhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
