This bakery is an institution., we buy specialty cakes and good quality breads here. It is authentic German and the recipes and products are very familiar to Europeans. Many stop for a coffee plus cake or something savoury. There is often a queue on weekends but it is worth the wait. Not cheap but first class quality

This is a nice small shop & cafe to buy breads & cakes or enjoy a coffee as a couple or with friends. I often stop and buy fresh German style bread, pretzel or cakes. a bit dear though...

Had lunch here yesterday. The quality of the pies was outstanding. Homemade, full of flavour. I'll be back next time I'm in Brisbane

I had been driven past the sign for KING OF CAKES many times, but had never called in. Whilst on foot today, I took a look and was delighted with the range of delicious German styled cakes, buns, desserts and breads. I tried a Beef Goulash Pie with a mashed potato top for lunch, and believe me, I shall be... More

Today I went to King of Cakes with my partner for breakfast. I'm European and I miss European baked goods. I'm tired of getting soggy oily croissants. Today I ordered a cappuccino and croissant for breakfast, the croissant was flaky, airy and light, the way it should be. Going here was a good start to my day!

I visited their market stall at the farmer's market in Queen st. Mall (every Wednesday) ans the cakes and breads were fresh and delicious. We had a pretzle and the sour cherry plunder. Well worth the visit when looking for a German cake fix.

You know those bakeries in Europe where beautiful delicacies and warm breads are served up in cosy shops into the early evening? King of cakes is not much like those. I go there regularly, as the goulash pie is highly addictive. Attractive spread of other baked items. If you are trying to avoid the carbs this is not the place... More
