The waitress was excellent and the food was just great and really good value. They were very child friendly and so very patient.

What a shocking place!!! My friend and I have been going here for years and it has gradually declined each time we have gone. This last time, last week was atrocious! We share the nachos and had to send it back due to the meat...being inedible. They replaced it with the chicken which was like eating cardboard!!! My friend then got home and vomited! Never agin guys! You can't do short cuts if you want people to continue coming! I shall tell as many people as I know!More
The first impressions are great, the room is quirky and welcoming. It was exactly the kind of place you wanted within walking distance of home. The margarita's were competent, the guacamole fine and the corn chips delicious and just like those of the western US...or Mexico. We had Taquito, Enchilada and then Prawn Fajita and sadly all tasted pretty much the same and were pleasant but generic. There are many restaurants in Brisbane offering a taste of the America's and California Native was a nice place to catch up and sadly didn't transport us in a culinary sense to places we can't travel to at present. Our wait staff member was responsive and we would certainly give it another go and aim for a more diverse order next time.More
We had dinner here last night because it is near my brother’s house . Staff were welcoming and prompt . We sat out in the back area . I thought the taste of the Mexican food we had was very authentic and the presentation of...food was good . Even my two year old nephew like the fish tacos . We also had an excellent nachos and my brother had a hamburger that he declared to be “ really good” A range of beer choices from the Americas was available as were cocktailsMore
i drive past this place everyday but never stop for food but finally did last weekend i went with 3 adults and 2 children, everything was spot on great welcome as we entered, friendly staff and great atmos, we had starters and mains we skipped...dessert, all i can say is the food was cooked to perfection, very fresh and tasty i will 100% return. even tho i didnt have and cocktails the ones that kept coming out of the bar looked stunning. keep up the good work guys.More
Nice ambience as not crowded, very relaxed atmosphere and staff were attentive but not in your face allowing us to chat and take our time. Meals were of good propotion and very tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. Good selection of alcohol with wine, beer,...sangria's and cocktails to chose from. Parking available on site or off street would definitely go backMore
We had visited California Native at its previous location and the food was great but service was not. In its new location the food is still fabulous and the service was excellent. We had some tasty poppers to start and then enchiladas for the boys...and nachos and the half chicken for the girls. All food was beautifully presented and tastes were Devine. Not the cheapest but great value. Will visit again soon.More
As an ex-pat third generation Californian I had expectations this was going to be better than the average Mexican food in Australia. The menu was limited and the usual side additions of rice and beans were not included. Everything we ordered was okay but not...really worth driving out of the CBD for 15 minutes. The most unbelievable aspect of this Mexican restaurant is there's NO HOT SAUCE. No tobasco, no chipotle, nada. If you want hot sauce for your tacos you have pay extra to buy a small bowl of their home made salsa. Even after expressing disapointment in this crazy policy, they couldn't offer a free spoonful of salsa. So, the customer service is also lacking. I'm not a cheapskate but there's no way I'll ever pay extra for hot sauce in a Mexican resaurant!More

Food was delicious!!! 👌 Fish tacos and burgers were so tasty!! Great presentation and awesome atmosphere.
Took family and friends to this cantina style dining. Food was plentiful and tasty. The drinks are well priced and variety of margaritas kept everyone happy. Sit outside during sImmer and spring for a wonderful relaxed night of dining.
Group booking but I don't particularly like Mexican food so ordered the burger. Ridiculous price for a tough, tasteless meat pattie and not much else. Yuk.
The food here is very tasty and very Mexican.....with a twist. The meat enchilada could be improved upon ....I make mine with corn tortillas filled internally with cheese and onion and a little pork or beef.... The bar tender a very interesting character .. make...sure you have a chat.More
My wife and I had been told about this place before and still had never been, we decided to try this place as our regular Mexican spot was to busy and boy are we glad we did. We have been to California multiple times and...visited sandiego and have never found an authentic Mexican place in Brisbane until now. This place was incredible the flavours were amazing, I had the elotes for starter and it was amazing authentic Mexican street food my wife and I both had the enchiladas and they didn't disappoint. The price was a bit high but I feel it was worth it. My wife and I will be back to try the Sunday menue.More
As an american, we struggle to find good mexican or tex-mex in australia. I've heard of this place before but did not go because i've been to other so called "american" or "mexican" restaurants and have walked out disappointed. However, my kids went with my...ex and said " Its good dad!". So, i went mid week with my gorgeous gf and gave it a try. It is located where is used to live on Eva Street in Coorparoo. There used to be a horrible little french restaurant with a creepy french guy stature out front so i'm glad this place took over. The menu isnt huge which is good. We ordered three started (fish tacos, octopus tacos and taquitos). All very good. We decided to share the enchiladas, one chicken and one beef. Again, very nice. We found the ingredients fresh and the meals light and not heavy which is a pleasant change from what you normally get. Overall, we were very happy with the food and service. As for the price, a little on the high side. We had two margaritas, one glass of wine, three starters and one main -A$122. The margaritas were in small-ish glasses as well. But still yummy! That would probably be the only reason i would not return...the price. Other than that, i would recommend and return....maybe of special occasions! Well done!! (Great decorations and music for Halloween too!)More
I went on a trip recently to USA, and got hooked on their food- particularly the Mexican influenced stuff. Since returning to Aus, I discovered California Native. Food- yum! Drink- Yum!
