We're just enjoying a fabulous meal at the Shipwright's Arms Hotel. Both my partner and I chose fish - one swordfish and one blue eye trevalla. Both were beautifully good and presented. The staff were very attentive and knowledgeable. Our waiter recommended an excellent local wine which was stunning (Derwent Bridge 2016. Pinot Gris). Highly recommend!

Not fancy but pleasant with friendly service. Food was good and the place was not too busy and noisy for dinner.

Living in the Nation's Capital, my visits these days to Hobart are, sadly, all too infrequent. I have always had excellent meals at the Shipwright's Arms, and this was no exception. The atmosphere and service were great, but the food was absolutely delightful. The Seafood Selection (I think it was called) was probably even better than the wonderful seafood platters... More

Good honest pub fare. We ordered from the bistro and ate in the characterful bar (bar menu looked great value if you were after a cheap eat). Nice steaks, good selection of sauces, handy wine list, and enough beers on tap to keep everyone happy. Friendly banter from bar staff.

Stopped of here while doing the historic walk of Battery Point. A great pub in a fantastic location. Hadn't tasted a lot of the beers they had on offer and they gave me samples to try. I had the bar menu for lunch but you could also opt to eat in the restaurant which had a bigger choice. The Flathead... More

Dined here on a Monday evening and overall, the entire meal was a good, honest pub offering but there were a few highlights – we received table service that was friendly, attentive and quick, the tables were spaced out enough to provide some privacy, and as a result, the atmosphere was more like that of a restaurant than that of... Last meal before we left this beautiful city . I had the steak , which was cooked to perfection. The sticky date pudding was generous and divine . Would go back in a heartbeat .

Our Globus tour guide gave us three options to select from at the airport for dinner; and, our meals were ready to be served upon arrival! Order ahead is the way to go for a group of 28! Generous portions! You should see the schnitzel over chips! My fish and chips were very good. We also received a drink and... More

My group of travel companions and I went to this restaurant upon arrival in Hobart, Tasmania. We were very pleased with both the food and the service. They started with a very good potato soup. We had a choice of fried white fish and chips or steak with fries (chips). Both were excellent. For dessert, which we did not need... More

a few years have passed since my last time at this Hobart evergreen. It was a favourite, but when I first came this way, there was little opposition. Not much has changed here, including, I suspect, the menu. The portions are pub grub size, and agreeable without being memorable. The waiter is very knowledgeable about wine, and worth following her... More

Description
Shipwrights Arms Hotel was established in 1846. Situated in the heart of historic Battery Point, Shippies (as it is known by the locals) has unique collection of Tasmanian and maritime memorabilia. Browse around the bar for the maritime memories including a 7 metre photomural showing every Sydney to Hobart yacht race line honours winner. The English style bar (built by a shipwright) features Tasmanian timbers and the log fires keep it cosy during winter. In summer you can relax in the ambient beer garden.
