Service was friendly and atmosphere was lovely, but meals were a nightmare. Garlic bread was surprisingly tasteless for an Italian restaurant. Mains were a very long time coming and the seafood pasta special treated of nothing but olive oil and prawn, despite supposedly containing crab, garlic and chilli. Our fellow diner's pizzas were lovely, but how can an Italian place... More

The food I ordered was pizza, salad, scallops and some bread. Overall everything was quite nice, and I don't have anything to complain about. The atmosphere (sitting outside) was nice, but this could account for some really great weather at the time. The staff were warm and welcoming and quickly attended to me. As an Italian restaurant on Lygon street,... More

It is hard to decide where to eat in this area of Lygon street because the smells are all good and the sprukers trying to entice you are all great characters. Little Lygon restaurant got us with the free BOTTLE of wine...the food was good (except I would not recommend the gristle ridden steak) the barramundi melted in my mouth... More

Maddie, the hostess , talked us into trying the restaurant and we liked it so much that we came back three nights in a row.

Wow what a fantastic experience! Drew was the perfect host and the food just delicious. We came back 2 days later for my partners birthday and not only did Drew remember us him and Angie made sure our meals and experience were unforgettable. Don't bother walking the strip like we did because this is the best restaurant in Lygon St!!!!

As usual the restaurants in Lygon street have their "whippers in and the Little Lygon had a good one. He offerred us a free glass of wine and a free bottle of beer and free garlic bread. We did not bite immediately but toured Lygon Street (both sides) before returning to Little Lygon. The meal was good and we ended... More

My partner and I visited here for dinner and we were very disappointed. The garlic bread was lacking in flavour and were very small pieces which came out in 15 minutes. This was not a bad length of wait. We then waited an extra 40 minutes for our mains, which by then we had finished the majority of our bottle... More

We were walking down Lygon street and all the owners were asking us to dine at there restaurant. They all offered free wine. At the little lygon they offered wine and free bruschetta. We sat outside and service was good and staff are pleasant. We had the gamberri with white wine. It was very good. Next time we visit the... More

I do not enjoy being negative and I will try to focus on both sides here but our group of 6 left last night incredibly underwhelmed. We were offered a table of 6 inside - with the offer of moving us outside if it were available. I wholeheartedly understand that moving a table midservice, during Saturday night is insanely inconvenient... More

Me and my family dined here the other night. The owner (presumably) was standing outside asking people to come inside. She offered a free round of drinks and free garlic bread and bruschetta which was nice. So we decided to sit down outside and we were given menus. The price of many items on the menu were a bit expensive,... More

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
