Came across this place down a lane near Flinders Street Station. Had some excellent Italian food with great service while watching the people in the busy street outside.

We had a terrible experience! We ordered lasagne but the cheap ready to eat lasagne from the supermarket is better to eat. When we said it the staff reacted irritated and was not helpful. Don’t order the lasagne!

I had lunch here and enjoyed a good huge meal of chicken parmigiana and coffee. Very helpful staff and good service at a reasonable place. A great new find in the city!

Just near the Flinders St Station, Il Tempo features an excellent menu. The staff and service were outstanding and the food, simply delicious. So good, we went back a second time. I certainly recommend this restaurant as one of the best!

A tip from the hotel brought us to the area and we chose Il Tempo merely on appearance. Turned out to be an excellent choice. We had pasta and a cesar’s salad. Everything high standard. When back in Melbourne, we’ll be back here as well!

It is so satisfying to visit a restaurant where the staff know exactly what to do end when. At il Tempo it seems like they enjoyed working there and were totally syncronized. On top of that, great pizza! Recommended if you want good Italian food...More

This was an excellent Italian cafe/restaurant with many choices for both pizza and pasta as well as other selections. The meat lovers pizza was extraordinary and the penne boscaiola was sensational. Would fully recommend and will go again myself

They call themselves a pizza and pasta bar. So I did expect this to be their speciality. Unfortunately the lasagna was very dissapointing and tasted like a supermarket prefabricate. After checking with the waitress she admitted it had been warmed up in a microwave. (We...More

This was the best pizza I ate during my Australian vacation. Most of the pizza her tasted like cardboard, frozen pizza, or worse. Not this place. The pizza at il Tempo was very good, especially the coal fired crust. While the service may have been...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways
tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary
feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the
city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques,
throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You
never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air

Il Tempo means Its The Right Time.... To visit us and experience our casual Italian cafe with the friendliest, most courteous staff in Melbourne.

Established in 2000 and conveniently located in Degraves Street, just across from Flinders Street Station.

Whether you choose to dine outside (Alfresco) or inside the European style bistro, Il Tempo cannot be beaten for authentic Italian cuisine, reasonable prices and a fun ambience.

Yes, the cozy, dimly lit atmosphere makes it difficult to want to leave and head home after dinner, but luckily, we are opened late.. So we suggest you sit back and relax and slowly sip that wonderful Chianti from our extensive wine list. Or maybe we will tempt you with one of our famous desserts...
