This is now my favourite laneway cafe. I love the vibe, i love the really friendly staff & best of all i love the food. The menu really has something for everybody but im sold on the Breakfast Power Bowl.........yum!!! The location is brilliant you can sit outside & still get some warmth without freezing to death. This cafe is... More

Cold food. Sauce on the meatball dish tasted like canned tomato soup. Very poor when so many other good cafes in Melbourne.

Located in the beautiful lane, right in the heart of Melbourne. If you're wondering where to eat your breakfast, you should definitely consider this place. The service was quite good, the cafe wasn't very busy in the morning (although we were there before 10am). The food was served pretty quickly and it was delicious. It would keep you fulfilled for... We (family of 4) wanted a laneway breakfast and we couldn't have found better. Yes the place was packed and our table a bit cramped but the food was the best we've eaten. The smashed avocado was a huge hit for us adults and our kids drooled over the strawberry waffles that came with turkish delight flavoured candy floss. Wow.... More

Issus could be good, but sadly there's some improvements to be made in this busy little cafe on Centre Place in the heart of Melbourne. Firstly, it's very loud, not just from the constant chatter of diners and the clinking of crockery and cutlery, but the music is about two notches too high on the music system. If it was... More

Came here for breakfast this morning. Generally, I like Issus, as the food is generally amazing and very well priced. Pleased to report that it is all of the above is still the same. The friend I was with though ordered a Cappuccino as soon as we sat down, but despite asking 4 times where it was, did not get... More

It's a great little place. The people were sweet and and breakfast was delicious. The menu is diverse which is nice. It's very small but so are all the restaurants in the area.

What a great location! Had a delicious smoked salmon pizza. It was super. We also had the calamari entree. It was super to! We thought the atmosphere was lively a little noisy at times but not unsociable.Staff good.

Having just arrived in Melbourne on a wet day we happened upon this cafe on a fabulous sheltered lane. Food was great. Ambiance outstanding. Loved it

We happened across this cafe for breakfast and we were not disappointed. The food was of a high quality and the way it was presented was eye catching. Prices were reasonable and a nicer and cheaper than eating at the hotel.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
