CeT is a quite good cafe in a city that is hardly spoiled for choice. The name "Cake and Coffee" is a great hint at what they are good at- so this place will save you from a tram ride to St Kilda for your weekend indulgence. Coffee is also a strong point here. However don't bother with a chai... More

Charming European style cafe. Excellent coffee. Cakes looked good but were ok until the end. The custard in the French slice was full of what tasted like butter. Very odd. It didn't taste just made. Will return for the service and coffee.

Great coffee. Hard to find really good coffee sometimes but here has always been good. I love the croissants here too 😉

We happened upon this little cafe by chance and were very pleasantly surprised. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the coffee fantastic and the food delicious. We had a chicken toastie that was amazing! Whilst the seating was limited the surrounds were nice, not too noisy and warm on a cold day. Highly recommended.

This café is situated in the Royal Arcade at the Collins Street end. The decor and atmosphere is very reminiscent of cafes I have visited in Italy. I just enjoyed a coffee with a small dessert tart (which was delicious) but it is open for breakfast and other meals during the day.

What a lovely little spot we stopped in for a coffee and a delicious pastry. Thoroughly enjoyed the time spent people watching and resting.

Underneath an outdoor gas heater, accompanied by warm service from attentive staff, we enjoyed a welcome meal and the passing parade - along the Arcade. Bread and water were quickly brought to the table; one chose smoked salmon bruschetta, the other had minestrone - soup of the day. Both were fabulous - hearty and warming. The staff were very good... Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
