Had lunch at this beautiful French restaurant. The Bouillabaisse was superb and if I lived in Melbourne I would become a regular visitor to this special restaurant.

Every Melburnian knows April is Melbourne Comedy Festival month where comedic geniuses from all over the globe flock together to raise our spirits ahead of the onset of Melbourne's grey winter. It is a great time to catch up with friends to have some laughs and enjoy our fair city's great food. An old favourite, visited way too infrequently, is... More

Fantastic French bistro adjacent to the Atheneum Theatre. We had dinner after a comedy the other night. The small space has a fantastic atmosphere, warm vibe but still intimate at the table. Excellent menu and drinks list. Great device, fast, efficient and very friendly. Highly recommend before or after a show, or just for a meal.

For a delicious boulliabaisse I recommend Bistrot D'Orsay. Service excellent. Nice adult dining. Entree was adequate after a delicious charcuterie.

This has been one of my regulars for many years as a business lunch venue and I have always been impressed with the consistency and the quality of food and service. I recently had a Saturday lunch with old friends and the restaurant was busy with theatre goers. We ordered some wine by the glass and there was no wait.... More

My Wife and I enjoyed a pre Show dinner on a Saturday night at Bistrot D'Orsay. We started with the tasting plate, and I had the rabbit pie and wife the Coq Au Vin for mains and we shared the Warm Rhubarb Frangipani for desert. The meals were all great and the service very professional and friendly. The place is... More

We were a table of 6 people having dinner before a show at the theatre next door. We all had beautiful meals. I had the mushroom risotto and it was beautiful, would love to get my hands on the recipe. The atmosphere was great and the same goes with the service. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

This wonderful bistro offers an authentic French experience from the French wait staff through to the intimate interior. We had a wonderful early dinner here with a 5.00pm booking. We arrived a bit early which gave us time to have an aperitif from an extensive drinks menu. The meal was delightful and dominated by French classics using local ingredients. The... More

I have always been a lover of French cuisine and this little french restaurant didn't disappoint. Despite some of the more negative reviews, we thought it was just perfect. I like the fact that it is a simple menu, but with everything you would expect from a french restaurant - from the perfectly baked cheese soufflé to the sumptuous duck,... More

We enjoyed a fantastic night here for my birthday - quaint little restaurant, great service and beautiful food. I enjoyed the scallops for entree (amazing!), the gnocchi for main (so tasty) and the creme brûlée for dessert..amazing. Will definitely be back and thank you for making it such a lovely evening for me 😊

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
