The xiaolongbao is served quickly and is delicious. Certainly recommend for casual dining. The restaurant is tightly packed with tables. It is by no means dress up. The xiaolongbao is served hit and delicious

We had a variety of steamed and fried dumplings with some Green Chinese Broccolli. The beer was cold, and the dumpings hot. Possibly needed a "warning" with them as we pretty much squirted boiling hot liquid into our mouths. The Pork ones fried were quite...More

The soup dumpling competition is fierce in Melbourne and Shanghai Street is underwhelming in all 4 dishes that we ordered. I can't see how they can compete against HuTong or Din Tai Fung. At least their service is pleasant and efficient.

Fast and efficient service. Really delicious dumplings - and pretty inexpensive. We had three plates of dumplings and a couple of drinks for $50. We couldn’t finish, so we took the leftovers home for later. So yummy. I’ll be back for sure ...

The dumplings are amazing we tried three different varieties, all delicious, good prices, the seating area is squashed, you will need to queue but they take your order while in the line so it's ready when your table is ready.

Steamed pork buns are not good. They have little if any tasteless water not soup inside and the bottom falls out when you lift them up. Pan fried pork buns had no soup in them and had no flavour other than a hint of raw...More

Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways

never quite know what you’ll find around the next
corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and
even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air
