Busy noisy restaurant with great retro deco and poor lighting. Dim tea candles on tables provided to allow people to read the small print menus... take a torch, magnifying glass and ear plugs. On the positive, staff friendly and accommodating and the food is great.

It took me a minute to find this place as it is in a building that houses other venues and is on the third floor (i believe) there is also a rooftop bar that shows movies in the summer in the same building. At the suggestion of the bartender I ordered the drunken noodles which was one of their "signature... More

What a great meal with friends. Very good service, great tasting food and an even better atmosphere to match.

Great food particularly the squid and buffalo mozarella. Service attentive but a little noisy for a large group.

It was way too dark in this venue unfortunately. However the food was great. We ordered the scallops which were cooked to perfection. I thoroughly enjoyed them. And the presentation was just gorgeous. We also ordered the fireblaster prawns with avocado sauce which weren't anything special and it was a shame unfortunately. We also ordered the sticky lamb shoulder which... More

My taste buds danced. We had firecracker shrimp, my 12yo loved. We had green curried chicken that my 13 yo adored. Roast Duck salad and grilled Thai sausage, coconut rice. It was so tasty , fresh and wonderful. Great vibe. Busy friendly staff.

Had a gathering of guys for a buck's evening of drinks, great food, and well serviced. Perhaps it was also the company but my first visit to Cookie did not disappoint. Great service at the bar, it was a Thursday night. But could imagine the place to be full-on on weekends. The dinner was amazing so many great dishes to... More

Visited with my son who lives in Melbourne so had visited before. 24 different beers on tap was a good start. Mostly of the craft brewery genre. The food is Asian fusion and was very tasty. The drunken noodles was a little hot for me but delicious. A duck dish recommended by our very friendly waitress was also excellent. Noisy... More

Interesting menu ... items such as turmeric chicken Maryland with salted duck egg, dried shrimp & ginger salad ($32); duck jungle curry, corn & betel leaves ($28.50), tempt the taste buds, while the extensive bar menu quenches the thirst. Cookie is however very popular, and becomes quite overcrowded, at times making it impossible to hear conversations. If in a small... More

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
