2nd visit to this place however this time I booked and was seated at a great table where I can access the food trolley and the fantastic selection of food. Service was top notch. Calamari was very tender with lots of msg - delicious. They told me the Crab and pork dumpling was a special so I ordered it to... More

Classic Sunday Yum Cha with all the normal offerings. Some of the food wasn't really up to par (squid was cold and chewy) but staff were happy to take it off the bill. Do a special order for duck pancakes!

A large variety of dim sum came around with lots of steamed items as well as others. These were the normal variety you would expect and they tasted good. Very busy during lunch hour but they managed to keep the tea topped up.

This is one of very few Yum Cha places that I have been to with smiling staff throughout the session! This place has amazing food, so fresh and with a great variety! As usual, booking is a must if more than 2 people!

i would not have know of jade crystal if our friend had not taken us there. it was massive and filled to the brim! We had chicken feet, tripe, tofu stuffed with pork mince, pork and ginger steamed in soft tofu wrap, beef meat balls, scallops, eggplant and they were all so yummy! service was great as well; staff continually... We went at noon time and queued for 20mins. They served dim sum by traditional way...push cart style. Each waitress will have some dim sum in a cart where they push around and show the customers. We have no idea what is on offer until we see all the carts. As for the food...it is very average and for 2... More

Sunday Yum Cha, fresh, good variety, good service. Gets very busy here so it's best to get here right on 11.30am when it opens if you are coming for Yum Cha.

I love yum cha, and decided to try Crystal Jade with hubby. Firstly, there has got to be a better system at the foyer. It was too narrow to accommodate customers coming in and leaving at the same time. Had to tell the same staff twice that we've got a booking because she forgot within minutes. We were seated very... Restaurant is well located upstairs on the corner of Russell and Little Bourke Streets (enter from Little Bourke Street). Décor is excellent and yum cha food is spot on and not expensive. Is licensed as well as BYO wine. Many, many Chinese people eat there which speaks for itself. Service is always good and we are never disappointed.

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
