went to Hanabishi for my mum's birthday celebration and it was an amazing experience. we choose the $105/pax omakase menu which turned out to be a worthwhile meal of quality and diversity .the service staff were attentive and took pains to explain the different components of the dinner. our favourite was the cedar wood fish which had a subtle hint... Had a quick meal here before the soccer. The food was beautiful and fresh. The service was great. Full of Japanese people which is always a good sign. Relatively new to Japanese food. The Aburi was the best that I have had.

Absolutely delicious food. Fish was extremelly fresh, just melted in the mout. Unpretensious, simple restaurant mainly visited by business people. Also had wagyu beef that was phenomenal. Will definitely return.

We celebrated our son's Bday here just arriving fr Canberra that afternoon. The atmosphere was calm and table setting was very classy. We love sushi and sashimi so opt for a range of choices instead of banquet. Sashimi was fresh w/ quality fish cuts, sushi was delightful and the best surprise was when the chef and staff gave my son... More

Clean modern interior. Fresh good quality sashimi. My wagyu steak was superb. The meat was so tender and the sauce with hint of acidity and japanese lemon flavour balancing the richness of the beef.

The fish here is very fresh. We came for sashimi and left very happy. The toro and salmon were delicious. The portions aren't that big, though.

There is a miniature rock garden delicately placed lining the entrance way off King Street, echoing many a famous garden. The food is exquisite.

After several superb meals at Hanabishi I can now confidently say it is my favourite restaurant in Melbourne for five reasons. 1. The food is simply delicious. Small morsels of authentic Japanese food arrive at the table in exquisite bowls. Without exception the quality of the ingredients and cooking is superb. When ever I have been, at least 60% of... Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
