Very friendly service, the food is excellent, a little bit crowded and not too much space, so not the romantic Italien really, but worthwhile anytime... will go back as soon as we can.

Most restaurants in Lygon St tend to be a little touristy but we have found this one more authentic and homely. We visit this place quite a bit, nice honest Italian food, friendly staff, decor hasn't change for a few years but hey, thats the way it would be in an iItalian village.

I went here for my birthday with my parents my sister and her partner and I haven't experienced an Italian restaurant like it! Apart from the seriously good looking staff members, they're all very attentive and well mannered! Although it was almost a year ago that I went, I still remember the amazing food we had! Order the meatballs as... More

Fantastic pasta! Served with complimentary bread and butter. We also got garlic bread for the table and that was average. But the pasta was absolutely superb! We ordered the spaghetti alla carbonara, squid ink spaghetti, pasta with cream, chicken and mushroom, and the Italian salad. Our favourite was the squid ink spaghetti, a very light and fresh sauce with seafood.... More

Recommend eating inside - a bit more classy than outside on the street. Food was excellent; so much more than pasta. We shared the whitebait followed by superb chicken dishes. The bonus is BYO for $3pp.

Our first time, and we were treated as old friends... and all the food was perfection! I had the agnoletti, husband had the spicy meatballs special. Both serves were more than we should have eaten and we finished every delectable bit. And then treated to a complimentary port at the end!!! What a lovely gesture-- guaranteed we will return.

We found this place on Trip Advisor and were thrilled. It is inthe Carlton area. The owner, Laurie, personally greeted us and talked with us about the menu. My husband and I shared an appetizer of homemade pumpkin angelotti which was great. Then we each had a veal entree. Both were outstanding. They have a good wine list too. Sorry... More

Staying in Lygon Street

Neighbourhood Profile
Lygon Street
If you want real parmesan, cut from the block, grated over your pasta with a twist of style, this is the place. Until recently, this neighbourhood was home to the notorious ‘Carlton Crew,’ a pseudo mafia who started their day with a local espresso. They are gone, but the espresso still runs strong in this Little Italy which has something for everyone. Starched white tablecloths, candles, pizza the way they do it "back home" and maybe even a bit of amore. The number of gelato choices will leave you in a state of indecision and wide footpaths, big awnings and a sea of packed tables makes this al fresco dining experience a continental buzz. Even if you’re not eating, it’s worth the stroll just for the people-watching, which, of course, is an Italian tradition.
