Dined here last night before seeing a show at Comedy Theatre. We enjoyed the braised beef croquettes to start, (delicious), hubby had scallops for entrée and said they were delicious, I had the pork loin for main and hubby had the wallaby – we both...More

I discovered this fabulous wine and dine venue 2 months ago whilst visiting Melbourne and just had to return. The whole dining experience appeals to all the senses. The mood lighting, the decor and choice of background music set the scene prior to entering into...More

After a day trip to the Yarra valley wine tasting, we were hanging out for a cheese platter to balance our day. Somehow I stumbled across a review for Punch lane with a fantastic picture of a cheese board. We were pleased to find it...More

Adam and I had the most amazing experience tonight - incredible tasting menu with exquisite wines to match. Quentin the sommelier was sensational. We'll be back every time we visit Melbourne.

Visited Punch Lane for dinner pre-theatre. Greeted warmly and seated without fuss. Table & waiter service was terrific throughout the evening. Flavours in the entree, mains & sides were simply divine. The coffee that came with the affogato lacked creme. 2* entree, main, dessert, 1...More

Dinner and wine for two, mid-week, early sitting, without a booking. One terrific steak (Rare). One very nice light-&-fluffy cheese soufflé. (Small portion size - not suited to the very hungry). Three glasses of wine and a large bottle of sparkling water. A dish of...More

We chose the degustation menu with matching wines. The food was very good and the wine selection terrific. My one complaint is that we advised our waiter that one of our party has a shellfish allergy (quite severe) and yet one of the dishes was...More

I will say it is weird in favor. The place is cool but the food is bad. I think you better take it as a place for drink only.

Fair enough to say you don't like the flavors... To say the food is bad, well ,that's a big call. On a positive note, great to read you enjoyed the ambiance and feel as well as the drinks .

It's noisy, can be crowded, not huge (so book ahead) but what an experience. It has something old fashioned about it with people sitting at the bar, all the bottles surrounding you and that hum a cosy little Melbourne institution has. The whole night was...More

Description
A Melbourne institution now in its 22nd year Punch Lane is situated at the Paris end of the CBD near Parliament . We are also in the theatre precinct and perfect for a pre/post show bite to eat . glass of wine or a plate of cheese . Our food style is Modern European with Australian overtones , there is an extensive range of wines by the glass as well as an array of beers and spirits . We are house in one of the original CBD police stations as we where situated in the heart of the red light district of the time . We also boast the original chairs from the Southern Cross Hotel which was the home of the Beatles during their Australian Tour . We look forward to seeing you for a relaxed lunch, a glass of wine or an intimate dinner.
