This restaurant is a Hidden Gem in one of the side lane of Melbourne Chinatown. Typical Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant with a variety of Hong Kong Chinese food. We love the Beef in Golden Basket, Crispy Roast Chicken and Hot Pot Seafood Combination. But the Barbecued Suckling Pig is less than expected because the skin is not crispy at all!... More

Visited here recently as we wanted to go to a good place for Chinese Cuisine. The upstairs location up a side lane is a very quiet place to dine. The super fast service is amazing. There is a very good beverages selection and a large range of Chinese dishes on the menu. There were a lot of people there at... More

My favourite Chinese no frill restaurant in Chinatown since my student days in the 80s. Now one of my son's favourite too. Excellent variety of porridges for supper and the main dishes are always consistent and prices are reasonable. Good simple Chinese food.

I have been enjoying the cuisine from the Supper Inn for 40 years now and have never been disappointed. Fresh flavoursome authentic food served with a smile. Nothing is too much trouble and they cater for all.

Oh My God, wow I was not expecting the food here to be so delicious, and the prices are really, staff and service is amazing, The only negative is it is a little loud, but you're going to find that in most Chinatown places.

You'll have to go down an alley and up some rickety stairs to get to this place, but when you find it, it's a real gem! The food is fantastic and the wait staff were really helpful. There is a $20 minimum per person, but if you're going for dinner that's an easy amount to spend.

Supper Inn offers authentic Chinese food at a very reasonable price. The place is always crowded so go early if you want to avoid a queue..We had claypot taufoo and fried crab in superior sauce over a bed of noodles, Both were extremely delicious and portion is big. They also serve congee for supper.

My friend told me about this place and it didn't disappoint. There isn't much charm to the place but the room was packed so we knew it must be good when we came in. My husband is a bit of a sweet and sour Pork aficionado and said this was the best he's ever had.

Supper Inn was one of those happy places i grew up with living in melbourne. The go to place for a late supper. Serving great chinese food varieties but famous for their congee, pippies in xo sauce and roast meats. Service was good if not great but you would always leave happy. Fast forward 10 or so years and things... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
