Booked online, confirmation by text from them day before. Great food, great service. The perfect eating venue before seeing a show at the theatre next door. They even asked what time we needed to leave for our show. Everything was positive about this Chinese restaurant.

My husband and I have spent valentines dinner here for the past three years. We always get the banquet which is about 7 courses for a very reasonable approx $65 pp. The food is always delicious. The banquet always has san choy bow and Peking duck with a wide variety of different meals each time we have been. This year... More

We have been going to the Tea House for 15 years and the food is to die for. We have been to all the other top restaurants in Melbourne and this remains a favourite. Over the years we have taken many family and friends and everyone has loved it. The baked crab shell is amazing, so too the eye fillet... More

This is one of our regular spots for dining whenever we feel like a good Chinese meal and it never disappoints. Food is consistently tasty and service friendly. Went there recently for Chinese New Year and service might have been a bit below usual due to how busy it was but it's great to have a reliable restaurant that we... More

The Tea House is actually located next to the Punt Hill little Bourke not the Chifley. This restaurant has delicious food and excellent service. It is more up market than a lot of other Chinese restaurants I have been to. I would recommend the Tea House for a nice family dinner or to celebrate a special occasion. The restaurant is... More

busy little restaurant in China Town. Unfortunately the dishes are too 'westernised' and therefore not to my liking. I ordered Mapu tofu, which disappointed due to lack of spices . When eating at a Chinese restaurant I like to taste Chinese food. Service was good. Experience was good but the dishes lacked on love at presentation and the much needed... More

This was a pre theatre meal and the service was quick, as we'd requested. The food was good, and there was no difficulty accommodating the group vegan. I would go there again.

I joined a dozen friends who live in Melbourne, many of whom eat here regularly (the waiter even knew some of their names). After a night enjoying a banquet, some nice red wines, and dishes that seemed to come from the kitchen at exactly the right time I left having had a great night, and understanding why my friends return... I have eaten here many times and never been disappointed. A little unusual for a Chinese restaurant in the manner it is decorated - white tablecloth service etc. The food is the equal of a few others around it that command far higher prices. Their duck ( crispy skin) is a highlight, and if you are lucky enough to be... More

After reading reviews on Trip Advisor we headed off for dinner for four. The food was really good and it is clear that the place has the same ownership as the Flower Drum. The stuffed garfish is the same and the rest of the food was of the same quality but lower priced. At 7pm there were hardly any other... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown
Locals know that Chinatown is the tried and true place to eat before hitting the nightclub scene. The place simply buzzes, and the well-preserved buildings exude a sense of Imperial China stemming from immigration over a century ago. In restaurant after restaurant on Little Bourke Street, you'll find delicious dishes such as sizzling honeyed prawns, and value for your money. Stately matrons oversee family kitchens serving up age-old recipes. The lighting may be unromantic, the patrons loud, and the service no-nonsense, but the food is sensational.
