Having tried various Salmon don (sashimi style), this venue serves the freshest and tastiest I've had in ages. Fresh slabs of sashimi salmon, topped with caviar and avocado on a bed of steaming rice, how is this not heaven, Busy venue, but worth the wait.

Japanese food at its best from a real Japanese couple using the freshest seafood. It is still the best Sashimi Don in Melbourne after 15+ years. A must try. 尤真正的日本人夫妻所經營的日本料理,堅持使用最新鮮的食材。仍然是墨爾本最棒的散壽司飯. 如果你/妳來到墨爾本遊玩,想找好吃又經濟的美食,千萬一定要試試

It was 2 years (I have been away) since I visited but it was always one of my favourites so I went back and nothing had changed, same quality, same prices, same uncomprising freshness, 'sorry we have sold out of that today" and I like that. Only one thing I would like them to change; please may we have a... More

There is a severe lack of good and affordable Japanese restaurants in Melbourne. The ones which are good are very expensive, while the ones which are affordable cannot be described as serving Japanese food. Serving home-style meals, their menus include katsu-don, unagi-dono, teriyaki don and sashimi-don. The latter uses fresh sashimi - a mixture of salmon and tuna - and... More

Sushi Ten always has been well known for the rice bowl and sashimi don (raw fish on bowl of rice). It is a must try if you are a fan of sushi, sashimi. Tip: The shop won't open until 12.00 pm. so you might want to pop in for lunch and later and the place could be a bit busy... More

Really nice food. Handroll prices can't be beaten at $2.20 each and waaay better than those crappy "sushi" joints on the main streets. The Hoso Maki is gorgeous. Ambience is not great though - not for a romantic lunch. But if you want to impress someone with your Japanese food know-how this is tops!

Staying in Central Business District

Neighbourhood Profile
Central Business District
Full of discovery and delight, Melbourne’s laneways tease the imagination long after you’ve put your weary feet up to rest. They weave through the heart of the city: cafes, bars, restaurants and boutiques, throbbing with conversation and espresso coffee. You never quite know what you’ll find around the next corner: cobblestone alleys, old beer barrel hoists and even vats of simmering organic soup. There is the air of Berlin in the street art, a touch of Paris in the umbrella-shaded cafes and, reminiscent of Rome, eateries tucked away in the most unlikely of places. Perhaps you might want a break and cross the Yarra River to Southbank - walk along the promenade, bask in the sun at a waterside bar and decide whether to go to the nearby casino or book a ticket at the Melbourne theatre company.
