This place i about very good beer, and food too mathc each type. It's not stunning, but its great tuckr with an epicurean twist. Id rather be at Galbraiths , with it's warm pubbiness, than a lot of the screechy look-at-me-oh-darling flashed up beerwery joints that have sprung up everywhere. Not for these guys the minimal "sliders"... nor the $15... More

After arriving in Auckland after 40 hrs of travel from London, we wanted an easy place to grab a bite and a beer. This was perfect. Service great. Interesting menu including venison lasagna and smoked fish mac & cheese. When we wanted to take away some of the left over meal, they declined and said they were unable to do... More

Hi Jennifer Many thanks for taking the time to review the Alehouse on Trip Advisor, we welcome it and are thrilled we could offer that soft landing after such an arduous trek to New Zealand. It is indeed a beautiful country and we are very spoilt. Yes the food takeaway situation....it's frustrating at the very least for us, the guidelines are... More

Visited here many times, with different groups of friends and always loved it. Have a good selection of brews made in-house and food is finger licking good. Great atmosphere inside the pub and lovely staff and service. Gets really crowded on weekend evenings esp if there is a game - just a headsup - but you will always find place... More

It sounds as though we've managed to successfully tick the right boxes and we are very grateful you have taken the time to use Trip Advisor to review us. Definitely the weekend crowds as well as Friday & Sunday lunches are a bit of a scramble for tables hence we encourage table bookings to ensure seating. A few new items... More

As a Wellingtonian, I never knew you could get craft beer north of Panhead; but you can! And it's served at the coolest little pub that's a cross between Berlin industrial chic and classic English countryside pub. Sitting in the beer garden drinking a pint of Behemoth red IPA, I think maybe all this makes it worth braving the traffic... More

Wellington certainly has quite the reputation for a great selection of beer options and establishments to drink...many frequented by Galbraith's loyalists regularly. Well done on braving the traffic....a topic of hot conversation for us city dwellers!!....Behemoth's Red IPA is a lovely drop...glad to accommodate. Many thanks for the review. More

There are seriously only three pubs in Auckland that are worth a visit, Brew, Spitting Feathers and top of the bunch , Galbraith's Alehouse. I think they do food as I have seen people eating here, but I find that time spent eating is time wasted when I could be drinking. The range of their brews is fantastic, and when... More

With fine ales and hearty meals, Galbraith's is a good place to go on a winter's day for lunch, especially if you can sit by the open fire. It is also popular with the after work crowd.

We've driven past many times and finally called in on a rainy day for lunch. Good customer parking. Not too busy on a Thursday lunch time and friendly staff. The in-house micro brewery is worth a look for the enthusiast. We shared three of the starters between two people and came away feeling that we wouldn't eat much dinner that... More

Really great boozer - very traditional and a huge variety of beers to try! I'd recommend the New Zealand pale ale.

Good all round pub with great beer and wine and the best fish and chips on a Friday but if you like bangers n mash or something else they are all great pub grub.
