Helpful staff but some of the tapas were not cooked fresh. Had a lovely night would go back for sure.

Booked Tasca for dinner with dear friends as the Tapas menu looked interesting and they had a variety of GF options for our celiac buddy. Place looks great and staff gorgeous and attentive. Male waiter made me think of Manuel from Fawlty Towers. He was...keen to please but got several things wrong during the course of the evening. From the Tapas menu we had some roasted potatoes (average as with limited seasoning and strangely sitting in quite a lot of watery sauce), tomato bread and dips (dip seemed to be right out of a packet) and pan fried calamari (did not try it but our friends scrapped over it so it must have been good). For mains darling had the market fish. This was three pieces of over flavoured over cooked white fish and a large handful of undressed spinach leaves. Friends had the pork belly. It was the variety with the soft skin rather than the cracking. They enjoyed it. Potato/veggie bake that was with it was tasty too. I had the Paella. Cooked in a cast iron plate with good crust under the rice. Rice with peas was the highlight. Chorizo was tasty but all seafood was over cooked to the point of unpleasantness. Calamari tough and chewy, mussels dry, prawns dry, fish dry. Desserts were churros which were very crunchy and covered in sugar/cinnamon and an affogato which was generous in the ice cream and Liqueur. I am offended on a cellular level when I eat out and the dish is inferior to what I could do at home. Sorry team. I can not recommend.More

Hi Vic and Jen, thanks for your very thorough review. May I ask which Tasca you dined at? (Newmarket/Dominion Road/Orewa) Then we may be able to address your concerns. I'm glad there were some positive notes, but you're right - they put the seafood in...More

Second time back after lockdown. Wasn’t too impressed the first time, but really glad we came back. They changed their menu and the service and food was so much better. Loved the paella and the market fish - sword fish. Good selection of Spanish wine....Lovely atmosphere. Will come back.More

A few metres off the main street yet close to buses and trains, Tasca may easily go unnoticed by many passers by, as it had by yours truly on several occasions. Introduced by friends we dined here on an exceptionally busy Friday night and thoroughly...enjoyed the food, wine and service. Ambience was warm and very Spanish with live music of a high calibre. Mussels, garlic prawns, calamari, lamb shoulder and other dishes all surpassed expectation in quality and presentation. We were all well satisfied before we had a chance to sample any further dishes so a return visit is planned. Service was friendly and reasonably efficient given the busy ValentMore

If you want more options than the foodcourt in the local Australian-owned mall, you need to support local business, and in Newmarket they need your help now. Tasca is one well worth helping. I can't remember the last time I saw so many items I...wanted to try on a menu - and I suspect it wouldn't have mattered which one I chose. Certainly what I had was excellent with a wide range of individual tastes on one plate. More than I expected for the price I willingly paid, and its a delight to find places that do that. I can only wish them good luck in surviving the tsunami of mediocrity that Westfield usually serves up to undercut local business.More

Had an enjoyable lunch here on Thursday about 12:30. Good menu variety for lunch and was of a high standard and tasted great. The service was friendly. Nice and comfortable restaurant. Would recommend.

We are regulars. We come here because of great choices, good wine and the best gluten free menu. It’s always lively, service is great and prices are right.

Went for lunch here on a Saturday it was pretty busy, loved the decor, service was pretty good, I loved my main, although it probably doesn’t look great in photo. My friends meatballs were average. The Baklava was lovely. Handy location to the new Westfield...and train station, in between the two in fact.More

I have been to this restaurant on a regular basis. I think they must have changed hands. The food was simply dreadful. We ordered a pizza and it looked like the cat had thrown up on the base. When we politely expressed our dissatisfaction with...the food, she said she had only been there a week. She would tell the management. Management who were there did not approach us or attempt to rectify the matter. I would not go back again, nor would I recommend to anyoneMore
