We ate as a family and found the food and venue superb. We also enquired about hiring the facility for a private function and found the manager to be very helpful, and offered to cater to our needs. Good parking outside and friendly staff.

I have eaten at Speights quite a few times now and it is consistently good, large servings, you never go home hungry and really good friendly service, the only time the food wasn't that great was when my partner ordered the fish and found it to be rather bland, other than that its been great, if you after a tasty,... We visited the Speights Ale house for Sunday lunch. We were met by a very friendly face behind the bar and we could choose where we would like to dine. We carried on upstairs where our waiter / bar man greeted us with lovely manners and a killer smile. Mum chose Grandma's lambs fry and bacon. I chose chicken with... More

Turning up with a 5 in the dinner hour is never advocated, but these guys ensured the same level of service in the bar as the restaurant. Our server was wonderful and she provided us with just the right amount of attention in a busy Saturday pub environment. All of the dishes we had were superb. The Esk Valley sausage... More

We ended up here at lunch on Good Friday when most places were either closed or full, and we were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant has a fairly standard menu but the quality was good and the portions generous (starters were plenty big enough for lunch). Prices were reasonable too. The upstairs room is large and airy with an oblique view... More

As one of the best beers in the coutry, Speights can always be recommended. The Ale House serves all of the good brews and more. Food is excellent.
