We went to this restaurant for a belated christmas family meal The staff were extremely attentive. Nothing was a problem for them The staff were very friendly and hospitable. Cant recommend this place enough. I ordered the silion steak and i was amazing. Cooked to...perfection. It is a hidden gem. Well worth the trip away from the CBD. Will defintely go back. We stayed at the Best Western motel and had planned to have dinner here. I had read the reviews online and couldn't wait for dinner. We checked the menu and we were impressed with the selection offered. We both had 2 entrees, the spiced Morrocan...lamb, chickpea and lentil soup and the Duck and mushroom pithivier. We were staying at the Best Western so it made sense to go here for dinner. It's a small restaurant and was quiet when we ate there, but it was obvious the other diners were regulars. Very friendly waiter who took the time to chat...and tease the kids. We took advantage of the happy hour specials and had a few drinks. Kids meals - wow, huge, and delicious, I would have been happy with one, kids steak was sublime. I had the poached pear and gingerbread for dessert and dreamt about it for days afterwards. We would have eaten there again if it was in the budget, however, in saying that, food is extremely high quality and averagely priced. Definitely recommend. A lovely little restaurant.More
We went to this little restaurant as it was rated highly on trip advisor, and wanted to check it out for ourselves. It is all as it is described. The food is delightful and melt in your mouth. When you arrive at the motel, drive...towards reception and turn right to park. If you go left you will drive right to the restaurant but there will be no parking and you will only have to back out of a narrow drive. The short walk, once you park as suggested, will be worth the wait for your delicious meal. The restaurant is simple, but as I and other reviews rightly say the meal is what you are there for. A lovely couple run the restaurant and do a fabulous job giving a relaxed atmosphere, and both interacting with the customers. We had the lamb shanks, and both literally fell off the bone. You honestly could've blown the meat off the bone, they were that well done. The vegetables, although one would think simple, and difficult to ruin, yet so many restaurants can; were also spot on. The broccolini was crunchy and tasty. And the cabbage was sautéed in a butter we think, and again was perfect. I also had the goats cheese salad for entrée, a very generous portion of cheese, surrounded by a delightful accompliment of salads that worked well to bring out all the tastes on the plate. Highly recommend this hidden away gem out by the gondolas, definitely a meal you would expect in a high class bug city restaurant.More
We had a large group of adults and kids end of August. Dinner was superb, all of the 10 adults enjoyed their meals, generous servings too. Kids had the Mac n cheese & couldn't finish the portions. Dessert was moreish. Would definitely recommend. Service was...great.More
This little restaurant attached to a best western motel was an amazing find. I can recommend it highly. It has an attractively warm feeling as you come in, and we were looked after very well. The food is excellent, some of the best we have...had in NZ. Don’t pass this one by if you’re visiting Rotorua.More

This is indeed a hidden gem! Located in the Best Western Motel. An immediate warm, homely feel. The service is beyond excellent. Attentive, helpful, cheery kiwi delight. The food is exceptional. The soup was hot and delicious. The lamb shanks were melt in your mouth....Steak cooked to perfection. The Tart Tartin was so amazing we drove back (after dinner at another restaurant) the next night for the same dessert! They went out of their way to make a hot drink for me that wasn't even on the menu! A must when you're in Rotorua!More

My husband and I had dinner here based on Travelocity rave reviews. When we pulled into the property, we thought, "Really?" But the reviews were spot-on. The food, service, and even ambiance were outstanding. Truly a hidden and unassuming gem. One tip: When you enter...the property, the restaurant is in the corner all the way to the left -- but all the parking places on the way are attached to rooms, so park in the small lot on the right and walk the short distance to the restaurant.More
