What a lovely restaurant, fabulous meal, generous portions and lovely staff, couldn't ask for more. I have been previously to another restaurants in this chain and they were not a patch on New Plymouth, simply excellent.

Be careful people my experience at that restaurant was shocking at the least. Five family members where sitting for dinner and they told my wife to leave because she wasn't eating. Very disrespectful.

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at this restaurant... didn't realise it was part of the Portofino chain in NZ otherwise we might not have gone, which would have been a big mistake. The food was excellent - very tasty and plentiful. Desert was yummy. Although they were quite busy, the staff were attentive and personable - would definitely go again... More

Not the first time to visit, but every time a pleasure to have dinner at this restaurant. The owner is very helpful and caring. Staff is attentative and making sure all is fine. Food is delightful, with a variety of pizzas and pastas. Bookings are recommended, as the restaurant is often very busy (which is always a good sign!).

We chose Portofino as my husband had been before. We weren't disappointed. Perhaps a fraction too dark but couldn't fault the service and ambience. The menu is extensive and the meals are huge. If you aren't a huge eater - don't order the garlic bread to fill up on. My husband had pizza - loves super hot so they added... More

We had dinner at the restaurant last night. The staff were very friendly and the food was exceptional. The caramel cheesecake was so light and delicious. A great spot for a good night out.

I went here with a group of 8, (booking ahead of time is a must for this restaurant if you want a table for more than 2). The staff were all very friendly but our waitress knew nothing about the items on the menu. When we asked her about several items on the menu she was unsure about both and... More

Unfortunately an unskilled waitress ruined my dining experience. She had no knowledge of the menu or an unsual drink I hadn't heard of, on the drinks menu. I asked what the difference between 2 similar dishes was, and her response was "some of the ingredients are different". that was all she could say. I asked for NO capers or olives-... More

A cozy restaurant, bookings are essential. Extensive selection of dishes, pasta, pizza and many more. Extensive wine selection and always good for a late night booking.
