Came here for drinks at the bar followed by a 6 course degustation with friends. We started with cocktails, which were very enjoyable. The bar is a great spot to enjoy the view of the sunset over Wellington harbour. The food was amazing - degustation menus are a great way to try a few things you may not order normally... More

Lovely!!! We've done high tea several times on our travels and this one was very nice. We missed lunch so we were a bit hungry when we arrived which meant we could have done with a bit more savory items. Plenty of lovely teas. Truly attentative friendly staff. Magnificent views of the harbour.

Loved the OTT decor and of course the art collection in the hotel was spectacular. The service was attentive and informative. But the French inspired menu was fabulous. Old school offering with a modern innovative twist. There was nothing not to like and it made me fall in love with crepes suzette all over again. I would definitely return.

The menu at the Hippopotamus has been styled with a French flair under the guidance of Chef Laurent Loudeac and it has a bit of a reputation about town. With that in mind we were very excited to try the 8 course discovery dining experience to see what culinary arsenal these guys had to offer. The venue itself has a... More

I had two meals at this restaurant in a recent business trip - one with a fixed menu, the other a la carte. The food was exceptional in both cases, and the service knowledgeable, professional yet friendly. The views over the water are beautiful, and the artwork and decor interesting - the artwork in the hotel where the restaurant is... More

Dinner here was very, very good. The beef fillet was tender and very flavorful, market fish delicious. The wine recommended was a Tannat from Hawkes Bay Region, just wonderful. Especially with the chocolate dessert. Service was good, staff wonderful.

Being invisible to staff at a supposedly great restaurant is hardly appealing. From arrival, staff were too busy strutting around to even provide a menu until, getting their attention with great difficulty, we requested them. After finally attracting the sommelier, he proved an exception - very good indeed. Service of men before women was surprising and disappointing. Food - brilliant... More

Dear John H, Thank you for taking your time to share your recent experience with us. Our service sequence has always allowed time for guests to sit, read the wine menu, then a dining menu is provided, we're disappointed to hear this came across as poor service. We will be addressing your issues outlined above. We are thrilled to hear... More
