It's a nice looking cafe, and a nice smelling one. staff speaks with french accent (ofc;)) and it all just makes sense. as much as I like it, and I appreciate the design, it is not my favorite cafe in town. My latte came burnt twice and location isn't the lovliest(than i gave up on their milky drinks). But all... More

Well known for their pastry, I got a chance to try them when I was working in Wellington. I love their almond croissant as they have a tinge of lovely flowery scent in it. They definitely set my standard for almond croissant high and I still can't find a replacement after moving out of Wellington. Can't wait to be back... More

We went there because we had read other reviews but the food was rather mediocre and the pasties nothing special. I can make better brioche, pies and quiche at home. The cappucino was more a watered down latte.

If you love a French pastries, this is the place for you. Very authentic. Delicious sweet treats. The coffee is French style so set your expectations if you are a wellington coffee snob. The ice coffee which comes in a cool jar is the best bet.

I might of been expecting a bit much after reading the reviews on here.. My biggest disappointment was the lady serving was very brash, in Wellington I have come to expect friendly service and unfortunately I didn't get it. The food was lovely - though the side salad was just some lettuce leaves with dressing. I found it hard to... More

Ooh la la..I’m so glad French Cancan has danced from Newtown into Wellington's CBD. On entry you are greeted with “Bonjour Madame” by the owner, in a gorgeous authentic French accent, which is irresistible. Their menu is basic but adequate and it offers a good variety of quiches, chicken pie, venison roll, sandwiches, baguettes, croissants, and the famous croque monsieur.... More

A slice of chocolate mouse cake with hazelnut base and a nice cup of long black coffee with the relaxing surroundings and piano jazz music playing at the background, these just what I need in a sunny morning in wellington. The food s fantastic with a reasonable price, plus the awesome services provided by the friendly staff. So if you... More

An unassuming French bakery/cafe. I had the salmon and leek quiche with salad ($17) on Saturday and the provencale tart ($9) today, followed by a coffee/chocolate layer cake. This is a busy place even though the signage is almost non-existent - a laminated A4 page attached to a verandah lightbox sign. Although busy the French staff are very obliging -... More
