Ventured for Sunday lunch arriving 12-30pm. I have eaten here several times before as I like the restaurant layout and the food has always been very good. We were promptly greeted and were seated and offered water. When it came to ordering the nice sounding Chicken Breast dish was informed it was going to be another 30 minutes (which I... More

There's the choice of ordering a main as well as the buffet part. The buffet section offers hot food, such as bacon, eggs, sausage and hash browns. There's also the standard breads and jams. The mains were served quickly and service was excellent.

It was the run-up to Christmas, but even so, for a hotel restaurant, it was very busy, so booking might be an idea. The dining room (Bistro 50) is very light and airy, although a lack of soft furnishings made it quite noisy. The food was very good, with an above average burger and chips very good value. The menu... More

The George considers itself a 5 star hotel and world class restaurant. Definately not! Some of the worst service I have had anywhere, arrive and had to wait 20 minutes in the hotel lobby because the tables weren't ready, the food was rubbish - tomato soup entree was so watery I've had better from a can. The risotto was so... More

An impromptu suggestion to visit Bistro 50 for lunch on Saturday proved to be a lovely distraction from the hurly burly of the weekend rush to 'get things done'. The atmosphere was as relaxed and professional as we've come to expect of the George Hotel staff. The wait staff performed to a high standard, matter of fact and not apologetic,... More

We have dined here several times before. This occasion was very much let down by the main course lamb being very very tough/some of it unchewable and inedible. The two people who had the main course groper found it unpleasantly salty.
