Always visit this with family....by the fire or outside seating, good atmosphere, good food for kids, just make sure you speak up when getting seated...the waiters dont seem to realise you cant cram 7 people including high chairs snd strollers in betweem couples having a quiet meal!!

Went for a meal and to watch the rugby. Meal was ok but bar service was very slow. Bar staff unorganized and unable to see who was waiting. Was nice and warm when we arrived (around 6pm) but after a couple of hours staff were hot so they opened all the windows and doors and given it was only 15... More

Speights is sold on reliability and quality, and this one fell a bit short. The staff were fine, and fitted me in on a busy night but the food was well under the mark. Fried calamari was just that, not even a lemon with it but just a small bowl of leaf with a strand or three of carrot. Not... More

We came here two days in a row for the buffet breakfast as we were staying at another hotel that didn't offer a buffet (they recommended this place). Food was good and priced well for our party. I'd eat here again

Have eaten here a number of times over the course of several work trips. The restaurant has a good local feel to it, with plenty of regulars donning spots at the bar. Service is what I expected from a pub - polite, friendly, and got the job done. The food is much better than other pubs in the area. As... More

Have eaten here a number of times and always had good service and the food is always good too. Have only ever had evening meals there either as a family meal or a large group 20+ people. Nothing has ever been a problem, even when someone just wanted an ice cream sundae off the kids menu for desert.

The Speights Ale House was a pleasant surprise. The pub had a great atmosphere with the locals & visitors were all enjoying themselves. i had the lamb shank, which was nicely cooked & a generous portion washed down with a couple of pints of Pilsner. I would recommend a visit.

This place was close to,our motel so we wandered in one night. I had the calamari which was amazing - really tasty and not chewy like some other places I've been to. Great selection of beers as you would expect. Friendly staff. Definitely worth a visit.

Came here as it was handy to where we were staying. Always a bit dubious of a restaurant menu that has pages and pages! There were four of us dining, meals were average at best. The service was dreadful, during the evening we had a variety of staff delivering food and drinks. Not one of them spoke to us. A... More

I ordered one of the signature dishes, pork spare ribs. and I loved the BBQ sauce they used, smoky and tangy. The meat came off the bones very easily, but was so tough and chewy. In this case, having 2 out of 3 criteria met was not so good, I like my rib meat tender and easily chewed!
