Did not enjoy this experience, they took ages with our drinks because the were busy chatting, staff weren't polite and came off rude. Saw cook/kitchen hand go toilet wearing cloves and return to the kitchen still wearing the cloves, wouldn't be surprised if he continued to cook/prepare food with them. Steak wasn't cooked as requested (well cooked instead of medium-rare)... More

Went for a family birthday dinner on a Friday night and the place was not overly busy. I use to go often and you could not move on a Friday night. The prices have sky rocketed and have got to the stage of being over priced. The service was ok but a wait of a hour for the meals when... More

As Monday Night Diners we found the Speights Ale House to have a generally relaxed atmosphere.. We could leisurely try some refreshing Ale's, prior to being seated at a table and without feeling rushed to order, eat & be out the door.. The Food was reasonably priced, presented well, tasty, generous in size & served by friendly staff... A most... More

Went here with workmates for lunch. Good menu with something for everyone. Prices aren't the lowest but they're ok. Quality of food is good and the staff are friendly. Meal sizes are generous as well. If you're been to any of the other Speights Ale Houses before, you'll know what to expect.

We have eaten here twice before in Christchurch. This time was terrible. We did arrive about 8.15 but were informed they were still serving food. There were 2 other tables eating when we arrived. The guy who showed us to our table and was our waiter absolutely stunk. He should have been sent home for a shower especially as he... More

Service was good. We were offered different seating options, it was a quiet holiday lunch. Drinks service was good, I had spiced tomato juice, which many find hard to do, it was great and I had a second. The wall beside our table did have food splatterings on it, which kind of blended into the decor. We shared the mussels... More

I visted here again last week. Craving a meal I had enjoyed previously. Excited and looking forward to it. Alas what has happened. I arrived at 5.25pm and asked about sitting in the restaurant - but was told they don't like people sitting in there until 6pm. I could go away and come back or eat out in the bar... More
