Went here with friends. Lively and busy, good atmosphere & music and good helpful service. However the food was poor, All 6 dishes of mains were poor standard. No seasoning used in cooking & it was bland. Meat thrown on a barbecue and lamb was...More

Visited this place the night before the 7.8 earthquake. The crowd was scintillating, music was tripping and the hookah was buzzing!

Topkapi offers fresh healthy food including vegetarian options. Standard and low seating is available. I had a Souvlaki which was very tasty. If you go early you can normally get in without a booking

Had a great night at this venue that we located unintentionally after walking around Christchurch city exploring the sights. Plenty of upbeat atmosphere and even tried a Shisha pipe for the first time there.

Went here for a friend's birthday dinner. The music was so loud we had to shout over it to be heard - I thought the volume had been turned up for the belly dancer, but the noise continued after that. I am prone to migraines,...More

We came to Topkapi early on a Sunday night and we were one of only two groups there. We ordered three islanders (lamb, chicken, and eggplant) and two lamb stews. We all really enjoyed our meals and the portions were big too. The special Topkapi...More

After hearing the advertisements on the radio, we thought it would be a nice idea to try it out. Much to our delight it is a BYO venue and were able to share a few bottles of wine between the table. The food came out...More

Takeaway iskender (sorry if mispelt). Meat was ok. Not much flavour. Minimal sauce. No hummus. Did not taste of much. On the plus side great party atmosphere inside just food a bit below par.

Atmosphere is good, music and belly dancers added something that other places didn't have. A 'modest' 1 BYO per 2 people was a bit 'annoying' but really not an issue. Food took a long time but was at least 50 people there, so just about...More

Hi Savannah I really feel for you the place is a train wreck starting from the food right up to the outstandingly rude manager / owner. I see his response to your email is you were obviously drunk as is any one who has a negative comment about his badly run takeaway. I was at the lone star just down the road this Tuesday and noticed nobody in there. I truly believe word is getting around. It's pretty low when he quotes a comment from somebody in your dinning party which you know is blatantly wrong. I hope this place sinks like the titanic, I think his decreasing rating amongst trip advisors Christchurch ratings speak for its self Ddln001

Taking its name from the mid-fifteenth century palace in Istanbul, Topkapi is inspired by the rich history of the opulent Middle east.

The restaurant uses the rich influences of Turkish and Persian cuisine to consistently produce delicious dishes for its customers, tapping in to the unique flavours and spices Middle Eastern food is renowned for.

Unique flavours are accentuated in the menu’s. The lamb rack and back strip dished are all cooked traditionally on a charcoal grill – which the restaurant had especially installed to preserve the meat’s natural flavours – is a favourite for its tenderness.

among other menu favourites, is the award-winning drinks selection. From the Denizili region, Topkapi’s Angora dry white wine is the light and fruity choice, while Yakut, which is known for being the best-selling red wine in Turkey, mixes spice with cherry and strawberry flavours, giving it its rich red colour. For those who like beer, the selection is vast. However, for an authentic Turkish experience, international award-winning and premium beer, Efes.

A night at Topkapi wouldn’t be complete without its live entertainment offering. Belly dancers are scheduled to perform every Friday and Saturday night for 20 to 30 minutes and are often the highlight of the evening for diners,

Belly dancers can also be requested for other nights of the week for functions and customers might also take advantage of access to a shisha pipe on special occasions.

Topkapi is well-known for its overall Middle Eastern experience. With fresh and healthy cuisine, a relaxing but charged atmosphere, and staff who appreciate every customer, it’s a sought-after lunch or dinner option for guaranteed exotic flair.
