This is the best place to dine in Newcastle without a doubt. Delicious food every time. Wonderful wine list. Polite and informative staff. Excellent service. In my opinion this restaurant is better than Sydney standard. My partner and I have been here several times and not been disappointed. Attention to every detail makes such a difference. Looking forward to returning again... More

We did enjoy our meal here but sadly its not the much lamented Bacchus. There is a distinct lack of ambience for such a small restaurant and I suppose that's letting the food do the talking but some attempt at creating a mood would be nice. The food was imaginative and tasty, and most of the 5 courses were delicious.... More

We went here in a recommendation. It is on the more expensive side and would be for a special night out. They do a degustation meal but I thought it was great food and I would recommend for a special occasion. You can get paired wines or just buy a bottle. Yes the alcohol is also expensive but you don't... More

We had a great celebratory meal. You have a set menu and so we tried some things we might not otherwise have tried. Menu changes regularly. We loved the wine matches and the fact you could choose to wine match by course and half half glasses, which was ideal.

Our party of 8 dined at Subo last night and we ALL came away raving about our meal and the service! When I made the booking online, Suzi ( owner) emailed me asking if there were any dietary requirements for our group.... little did she realise the complexity of my answer. We had 3 vegetarians, 2 pescatarians, and 3 omnivores.... More

By far the best restaurant in town for good reason. This is high class dining without the need to visit Sydney. A changing five course degustation will surprise you every visit and every course. There is nothing to fault with this remarkable restaurant! It is a must do!

As the cliche "I work in hospitality" comes to mine... i was highly impressed in every aspect. I left everything in the hands of the entensively trained staff/ chef with the 5 course and closely matched wines... The manager was brilliant and loved to chat shop about the wines themselves. Everything was quickly delivered, fresh, locally sourced and most importantly... More

Five course set menu changes frequently. Dietary requirements easily met provided advance notice. Food is experimental but well thought through. Good wine list and attentive staff.
