SO TERRIBLE!!! Very annoyed with myself for not checking the reviews here before choosing to go here. I had one night in Newcastle and was looking for something quick and yummy - it was the complete opposite with the addition of really poor service. DONT...GO HEREMore

This review is for Dumpling Story at Charlestown Square in Newcastle. There is no place to add the review for them but the Management at the Square told me this company is the same. We got pork dumplings around 2pm and thought we would get...fresh ones as the Lady was making new ones. We obviously didn't as I saw her take some from the corner and when the dumplings were served the outside of the dumpling was uncooked, floury dry and broke up. The middle was barely cooked but it left a terrible floury, oily taste. The person who served us was on her personal phone the whole time and she didn't use sanitiser to use the tongs for the food and handed us the napkins, the food container, chopsticks etc with the same hand without putting her phone down. We put the napkins in the bin and used my own tissues and ate some of two dumplings and threw the rest out. We didn't return them as she was still on her phone. As we were waiting we saw the front counter was dirty with fingerprints everywhere, the menus dirty. In a covid period this was gross. Never againMore

The lady taking the order front of house was extremely rude, dumpling story was not family friendly ( compared with other restaurants nearby who provide you with kids cutlery and high chair). We won’t be returning customers and would not recommend to any of our...friends or family.More

As the title says, it was ok, but not fantastic. The portion sizes were generous and service was quick. The Xiao Long Bao we’re home made, but a long way off Din Tai Fung standards. The pork was a gluggy meatball and there was very...little soup in a floury wrapper. The Kung Pao Chicken had zero Szechuan pepper, too many raw peanuts and the sauce was a little weird and really runny. The Combination wonton noodle soup was the saviour of the day; a generous serve, enough for two. Broth packed with flavour, perfectly balanced. Generous amounts of protein and veg. A winner. Reasonable value for money and great Covid safe practices in place. Overall should have been a 3.5/5 but can’t do that.More

The food is some of the best chinese I have eaten and covers a vast range from Southern (usual Cantonese fair) to Northen (including Baos and Dumplings). If not for the rather small settings ( a bit squidgy) I would put it right at the...top. Lastly, this is the OPPOSSITE of a romantic setting - you go in there to eat excellent Chinese tucker and thats it.More

Amazing food, taste 10/10, cost 7/10. Went for my Dad's birthday, got a range of dumplings with rice and salt and pepper squid. Best salt and pepper squid in Newcastle. 100/10 (isn't a mistype)
