My first tip for this restaurant is to BOOK ahead if you have a limited time in Launceston, my husband and I only have a couple of days here and managed to get one sitting available last night. also they must have turned away about 14 couples that were walk ins. VERY POPULAR The butcher shop has been remodelled into... More

Amazing! One of the best steaks I've eaten!! Was recommended by someone I know & it didn't disappoint. Both hubby & I thought delicious. We ordered a steak of our choice each & shared two sides. Great spot for Tasmanian beef experience (do offer fish & vego option) as well as other local fresh tasty delights. Not easy on the... More

Black Cow came highly recommended and lived up to the hype. beautiful steak, timely service on a busy night, with great atmosphere. Creme Brûlée possibly better than the steak. Yum.

Book the restaurant after reading in Tripadvisor. The restaurant is crowded and advisable to book early. The place has very nice ambience and the food served is very nice and decent. Staff is also very friendly and helpful.

You should listen to the sommelier anywhere but at the Black Cow it really made a difference to our meal. We wanted a Tasmanian wine and most of them were Pinot Noir, but we were having the wagyu. The sommelier made some suggestions very tactfully to lead us away from an inappropriate choice. We ended up with a selection that... More

We visited on New Year's Eve night so the restaurant was quite busy until late in the night. The staff was easily able to cope with the number of people. We started with the calamari which had a lovely sauce however the calamari slightly chewy. Next was on to the highlight of the meal - the steak. They were cooked... More

We booked the restaurant for a new year eve celebration and were prepared to enjoy it to the fullest. What a great decision! We couldn't have picked a better place (certainly not in Launceston...) We each had a starter, main and dessert and each dish was just perfect. The fish and scallop so delicate, the meet so tender and tasteful... More

Steak was nice but the place is overpriced and over rated. A bottle of wine was over $80 and corkage was $40 per bottle for wine. They should focus on the food and not ripping people off with overpriced drinks. Local beer was only available in cans but again overpriced. If they focused on the food and not gauging profits... This restaurant has been strongly recommend by many people. Walked in on Saturday night. Very busy. Lucky we were still able to book a table for Sunday night. Went back on Sunday night again. This place is still busy. The porterhouse steak is juice and tender and huge. I tried very hard but still couldn't finished it. The best is... More
