Very noisy because of the solid walls with no sound absorbing features. Small portions at high prices, and quite squashed layout. Food tasted ok.

This busy little bar restaurant does surprisingly high quality fine dining in nice surroundings, and there is plenty on the plate without any sides.

Tonic Restaurant has a new owner in the past year. (Zhishu Wang) and has several new Asian Chefs. While they have not given the menu an "Asian fusion" it certainly is upscale. We had the chicken rolled around a cranberry/creme cheese center and the crispy duck salad. Both were presented very eloquently and quite tasty. My only downsize was we... More

We looked on trip advisor to see where we could eat one evening during our trip to Whangarei. This place is a real gem, the food was absolutely delicious and the service was excellent, so good that we even left a tip. it's a little out of the town centre but well worth a visit. We will definitely return here.... More

We dined at Tonic restaurant on Sunday evening. There was a set menu and both of us were delighted with our choices. We both had the 3 course meal and each course was worthy of a photograph and the taste matched the high standard of the presentation. We left extremely satisfied with the price, the service and the overall experience.... More

Ate here on 20/01/17 From the moment we walked in my husband and I were met with a warm genuine smile. Great service from the start. Attentive, well timed and not over bearing. Great choice available on the menu. My husband had the salmon and I had the crispy duck salad as starters. We chose the beef eye fillet for... More

Intimate restaurant. While a small menu the food was excellent and beautifully presented. Very pleasant waiter. Our booking was earlier in the evening which we really appreciated as when the restaurant began to fill it became much harder to hear conversations due to the acoustics. Still that aside I would happily recommend.

My wife and I try to book this restaurant each visit to Whangarei . We are never disappointed .
