Food was good, four stars, although the oysters were thin, small and badly opened with shell in two out of six. Service was two stars: we were shown to a table in a corner at the back of the conservatory by the guy on reception duty, but he apparently didn't let the waiters know we were there so we waited... We. We're a group of four, our table was reserved and although the restaurant was busy service was efficient friendly and knowledgeable All in all a very good experience at reasonable cost at least for New Zealand

Nice lunch. My husband had west coast whitebait. We found this a little on the small size for a lunch. But as we are from the South Island we have better access to whitebait so tend to get bigger fritters at restaurants. Otherwise service was good, view great. Oysters yum!

We went here for lunch at two pm. The restaurant was still very busy at that time. We ordered fish and chips as well as rib eye steak. Both our meals were disappointing. During our six weeks holiday in NZ this restaurant was at the lower end. The fish and chips did not match the fish and chips we had... More

My dad used to go here a lot 30 years ago, and i always remember him bragging about how it was the best fish and chips he ever had and that the staff were amazing! So I really planned to come here with my partner and get fish and chips and call my dad over in Canada while eating, but... More

We had a great lunch for 5 on the deck, he food was great and the kids were also well looked after. I was particularly impressed by the size of the kids burgers! My burger was great as was the fish salad. Well worth a visit.

Besides the amazing history this hotel offers. The view and food are outstanding. Highly recommend making a reservation and request a table outside if the weather is warm. I had the Fish & Chips and one of the best I have had. Great service and the food came quick.

We only had some refreshing drinks whilst sat outside watching the ferries come and go. Menu and food looked very good but we needed to move on. If we had time we would definitely have eaten and enjoyed.

Have been to the Duke quite a few times and have given it an excellent report. Sadly the last time we visited we had a problem. We wanted to go for brunch, but the sign outside said that the bar and restaurant would not open until 1130 hrs. The staff said that we could sit in the patio until they... More

My lunch was very ordinary, I elected not to pay for it. A lunch of BBQ squid consisted of a very small handful of pieces of squid on a massive serving of rocket. I refused to pay for a bowl of rocket. A very disappointing lunch. I would not recommend this venue for lunch anyway. Staff didn't even offer to... More
