Villaggio is located in a rather unassuming strip plaza just outside of the heart of Kleinburg but don't let the setting fool you. Inside is a large space that uses plenty of glass and wood to create a more intimate and comfortable setting (the glass...enclosed wine cellar is something to see). The food is pretty good too! We shared the rather large arancini appetizer - wonderfully crispy exterior with the pecorino cheese adding nice flavour. The pastas are also excellent - we thoroughly enjoyed the pappardelle with lamb and cavatelli with salmon. Lots of wine selections by the glass. Prices are at the high end (pastas between $21 and $24) and the service excellent.More

Not a first timer here But I am very disappointed with the meal. I had to send back our dishes because they were over cooked and one raw . No one from management came to say anything to us and that’s was bad . When...they brought back both our meals The potion were smaller then the original ones and I was embarrassed to send back my dish because it was again undercook . To be charge 39.00 for a less then. 4 finger size or less the 4oz piece of fish an to charges 40.00 for two piece of veal less then 5oz not worth it at all. I did look around my table and the other guess who ordering the fish were well I guess they were shock as well as I was . Sorry I am only stating this so you can get this right the way I remember this ristorante but our party will be be back . Ciao .More

Nice big restaurant but still cozy & lots of tables...but still make a reservation. There were alot of big parties but they seated us in the back in a nice cozy nook. Waitress came over for our drink orders & I asked to see a...cocktail menu. They didn't have one. I was very shocked at this as it's a nice restaurant and they should have a cocktail menu. She said they could make whatever I wanted but I didn't know what I wanted & looking at a cocktail menu would of have given me ideas. I think they would sell more cocktails with a menu to entice people. I just ordered a glass of chardonnay & my boyfriend ordered a spritz. Another waiter came over to bring us something & asked how we were & I asked if he had any ideas for cocktails since there was no menu & he responded that they can make anything. I said that I don't know what I want & it would be good to have a menu to give people ideas. He told me to have a spritz because my boyfriend was having one but I told him I didn't want a spritz. He was quite stern about not needing a menu & putting my suggestion in the comment box. Not the right thing to say. He finally said that he would pass on my suggestion. I really wasn't trying to be difficult, I was trying to give some advice to increase sales as I think people would order more cocktails if there were interesting items on the list. Same thing goes for after dinner drinks...there should be a menu. Let's move on from this because everything else was wonderful! We ended up ordering a half litre of wine. We felt like a chardonnay and there was only one that we saw so we ordered that & it was great & surprisingly inexpensive. I thought the wines were all well priced. We had the octopus & the shrimp diablo as appetizers. The octopus was so good & it was very different then any other place we've had it. We loved that it came with black olives, potatoes & tomatoes & it was cooked very well. The shrimp diablo was good, nothing unique but ok. Soup of the day was very good - can't remember what it was as my boyfriend had that. I had the raddichio salad with pecans, pear & ricotta & it was very refreshing & I love raddicchio so I loved this salad. My boyfriend had the Aragosta with lobster tail. It was delicious! The lobster tail was cooked well & tasty but he said that he would just have the risotto with the lobster meat & not the lobster tail next time. I had the spigola (european bass) that was cooked whole & served de-boned. It came with a celeriac puree & bean salad. The dish was perfect & I loved all the different tastes. The fish was done simply & I loved that it didn't come with standard veggies & potatoes. It was a unique dish. Make sure you save room for dessert. We had the cheesecake & the espresso creme brulee. The desserts are very large portions! We were surprised how large they were. The creme brulee was very good & we enjoyed the espresso flavour. The cheesecake was incredible! I think it's famous because everyone recommends it. It didn't disappoint...every bite was delicious! If I was looking for a dessert one night, I would come back here & have dessert with a coffee & dessert liqueur. We had a camomile grappa & a calabrese amaro. I've never had this amaro & really enjoyed it. I also have to say that Anessa was our server & she was fabulous. She recommended pretty much the whole meal & we weren't disappointed. She was friendly, knowledgeable & paced our food order just right. Thank you Anessa! (hope I spelled your name correctly). We will be back!More

Good food but very expensive. Aragosta Risotto tasty, but $28 for basically a bowl of flavoured rice? Very difficult to find the lobster pieces in it, but you can add a lobster tail for $22. Seriously? Friendly & helpful staff, nice ambiance, but very noisy...on the patio due to traffic. Inside is much nicer. Will go again, but only for a very special occasion & probably once per year max. Excellent experience if money is no object.More

Clean, light and airy open plan restaurant with views into the kitchen. Came here at 8:50 and it closes at 9:00 on Wednesdays. Our waiter advised please order quickly. We had been at McMichael Gallery for a Northwest Lexus new model unveiling and had already...decided on Villagio based on our findings at TripAdvisor. Food came very quickly and was excellent, wine was fabulous. Only minor criticism is that they muck around with the Ceasar dressing and put honey mustard in it which misses the point of a good creamy garlic Ceasar. Couldn't fault the rest of the food or the service. Also of note is the really smart and clean unisex washrooms. Would go again.More

We visited the place in summer and sat outside on the terrace. Nice weather, nice ambiance. Their cheese and meat tray appetizer was wonderful and also the food.

Typical meal for us: aperitifs, bottle of wine at least $100, multiple apps, mains, dessert/coffee/possible after dinner drink. (We don’t drive of course and when kids are not with us). We visit this restaurant multiple times per year, have been for years - before they...were busy on a weekend at all, have even hosted parties of about 40 ppl. We will NEVER give our business to this establishment again. They clear your table with half finished meals and almost full alcoholic drinks on it if you leave to use the restroom, while my husbands back was turned to talk to a friend at another table. I was flabbergasted! (Someone else had taken care of our bill so we were unaware they paid earlier well before we were done). We still gave them another chance. Our next visit about a month or so later: Upon check in, we were told how long our RESERVATION was. We were surprised that they vocalized this to us. We found it rude. It’s not like they’re we’re “fitting us in” or anything. My husband ordered an $18 glass of wine (we had kids with us, no bottle service lol) but it was spoiled just by smelling it. Had to be replaced. If they are serving from an opened bottle, why would they not check it first? I have a dairy allergy which was expressed to the server from the very start. He brought my plate with the dairy on it (steak, potatoes, veggies) there was butter and cheese. I reminded him of my allergy and my original order. They ended up removing the potatoes from my plate but did NOT replace them with anything not even extra veg. My meat was NOT replaced either- it was definitely rinsed or wiped off. Ended up dry and there was absolutely no seasoning on it. Service is NEVER with a smile - or never a friendly tone without the smile. Hope this helps with your expectations of this place. Happy dining!More

To be able to "shine" on the busiest night of the year is a pretty good indication that the front and back of the house has their act together.
