About
Since 1982, Picimbar is the most traditional restaurant specialized in fresh seafood in Picinguaba - a small fishing village between Paraty (R.J.) and Ubatuba (SP). Come to experience an amazing visit to a paradise in a very original fishing village where 'time has stood still'.

We spend eight days in Picinguaba and had dinner at the Picimbar every night. The long-stay allowed us to taste most of the dishes on the menu, including the pizzas. All were excellent when the place had a normal-sized clientele. We only had a disappointing experience when the restaurant was overfull, and the kitchen serving stall where overwhelmed. For this reason, avoid the restaurant when it is overcrowded. The new owner of the restaurant, Eli, is a charming person that tries to do her best to accommodate her guests but has to create a system to restrict the number of guests per evening to maintain the excellent dishes we tasted. Eventually, introduce a reservation system. Note that the new owner Eli restarted the restaurant that used to be run by a German couple and also had is excellent moments. In the 90s, I used to anchor my boat in Picinguaba every time I passed along the coast to eat at this restaurant. Now with Eli in charge, I will undoubtedly restart stoping over every time I cruize this coast.

Picimbar prides itself on its food, and takes good care to present it well. Nothing too fancy, good ingredients cooked while you wait by la patronne or the kitchen. Service is very obliging - the first night we arrived after the kitchen was closed, but as the oven was still hot, we were offered Coquilles St Jacques - baked scallops - and a basket of French bread. So we went again, and found the oysters good too. Reliable food, good service, lovely view - anything else? Yes, they take reservations over marine band radio from the parties of tourists being ferried back hungry from the islands by the locals. Excellent indeed.
