We had been to the hotel for a bistro meal and went back for chinese. It wasn't too busy when we ordered off the main menu. Was told certain things weren't available at lunchtime. We ordered entree mains and fried rice. After 45 minutes went...up to get my money back and was told off. Told our meals weren't done because she was too busy cooking $10 lunch specials. I told here she shouldn't have full menu available if she wasn't capable of serving it. The hotel is great, good beer and so clean but this restaurant lets them down. We left hungry but within half hour we had a nice meal at a near by cafe.More

Was recommended this by a local, so decided to give it a try. It is at the back of the Great Northern Hotel through the bar. The lady serving was abrupt, but as I have lived in Hong Kong, and know how they operate, I...would expect no less. We were a little late, and she basically told us to hurry up and order as they were closing soon. We ordered, and after a little use of Cantonese, she loosened up a little, but still there was no great service. Fortunately, the food, and the generosity of the servings makes up for the service (or lack thereof), as the dishes were very tasty, well presented, and plentiful. If I was back in Kempsey, I wouldn't hesitate returning-for the food, but wouldn't rush to book it for a special occasion due to the service. Great food, fresh and well seasoned, served by friendly staff and reasonably priced. Clean, well maitained premises run by an obviously proud family. Well done

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local so we gave it a go. We were...surprised by this little gem, food and portion was terrific and the price even better! This restaurant is a good choice for dinner while staying in Kempsey. Easy to find along main. Street.

They cant even answe their phone too order. They would let it wring till it dropped out, after calling back i got 'line busy' Ridiucles.

We have had the lunch special a few times and it is a very good deal. The food is very nice and a good size for $8.........but the service is terrible. This week I stood at counter for at least 5 minutes before I was...served, and I was only person waiting. There were about 6 people that kept looking over but no response from them at all. Later I was told, this is because only ONE girl speaks English. NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! If you are very patient, it is worth waiting for the lunch special. King prawns with curry sauce and fried rice is a great deal. Parking can be found at rear of The Great Northern Hotel, just past The Police station on the left, heading out of Kempsey. From the south, go across the bridge and drive straight ahead, don't follow highway to the right. It is at the back of the hotel about a klm or so from Kempsey. If you want good service don't go here, but food is good.More

Poor customer service, payed big money for an unfortunate small dish. Was ignored. Will never go back again. Wouldn't recommend it.
