One of very few restaurants doing more than basic stuff in the town. Previously reviewed for breakfast and found it very good indeed. Not quite as successful for dinner however. They are making a real effort with their ingredients which were uniformly impressive....mainly local, all high quality. Oyster starter standard fare but fine while my Kangaroo Tartar bland and very... More

Have visited with my wife in previous years. Last time for dinner so this time thought we'd try breakfast. Left a bit under whelmed. I had the breakfast wrap. It was very bland indeed. My wife had poached eggs. Hers was cold and the eggs yolk had hardened. I wouldn't really have cared but I was paying above average prices,... More

We had lunch at La Bimba as part of the tour lunch arrangement with Melbourne Boutique Tour to the Great Ocean Road. The lunch menu include a range of seafood like grilled baracudda, steam snapper, mussels and seafood paella, accompanying with long beans, pumpkin and potatoes. The food were cooked to perfection, despite being a package lunch for a tour... More

Entrance is upstairs next to the bakery! A restaurant that really focuses on using local ingredients. Great snapper caught within sight of the restaurant, tomatoes and beans from a farm less than an hours drive away. All cooked fresh, with the beans beautifully "al dante ". The wine was a Sauv Balnc from Geelong (just down the road). The service... More

The staff serving at La Bimba were very good and friendly but the food was very expensive and very ordinary. Pork was very stringy and the sauce overpowered any pork taste. $15 for each lot of side vegetables is exorbitant. For the price you pay, the vegetables should be included. Won't be going back there in a hurry, plenty of... More

Having read a little about La Bimba, a dinner reservation was made for us by our hotel receptionist. (See our review of the Sandpiper Motel.) While enjoying the view from the second floor venue, we started with Priory Ridge Pinot Noir, a Tasmanian wine we discovered we love. Our main was grilled Mirror Dory for two. We’d never had that... Tried this excellent dish at La Bimba along the Main dining Street at Apollo Bay, it was indeed excellent and did not disappoint! This dish is sufficiently good for 2 to share, full of freshness of seafood with mussels, fish chunks, prawns, squid and sausages, the rice is very flavourful and everything blended really well for a good meal and... There is no shortage of breakfast options in Apollo Bay but we chose La Bimba for no reason other than it is on the first floor and therefore offered a view. We weren't disappointed. A good menu offered a wide range of breakfast options at good value and the coffee was excellent. The service was very friendly and our dishes... More

Great position elevated on beachfront. Good service and good menu options. Fresh food and plenty of fish. Loved the paella!

Fabulous food - the paella was to die for. Great wine list, staff were lovely and the restaurant was very family friendly. Will definitely be coming back.
