This is a very unassuming local restaurant, we have been here many times and the food is consistently good and reasonably priced to boot. The decor is very traditional but the staff are great and the selection on the menu will suit anyone who like Japanese food. Can highly recommend this restaurant. It has a basic wine list and BYO... I love Japanese food and Yamabuki is a bit hit and miss. A few months ago we were here and the food was pretty good. Great Gyoza, really fresh yummy sushi and sashimi. The hot dishes were good and the tempura was enjoyable. But our recent visit was a bit different. The sushi and sashimi didnt taste as fresh and... More

It's never a good sign when a Japanese restaurant isn't run by actual Japanese people and it shows as the food is inauthentic and most likely the worst Japanese food we have ever had. The sashimi was not fresh at all and came out warm and limp. Why it was served with a slice of lemon is beyond us. In... More

This is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have been too. Food is fresh and authentic. Hand rolls, Eel, Octopus and the Salmon all great. The soups were perfect. Can't fault.

Yamabuki is one of my favourite restaurants in Williamstown. The atmosphere is great and the food is delicious. It is owned and run by a Japanese family. All the sushi and sashimi dishes are prepared fresh as they are ordered. My absolute favourite is the Teka Maki which are small sushi rolls with raw tuna and wasabi. They have a... More

Quiet 29th birthday dinner for my daughter-in-law whose identical twin sister and husband (my son) speak fluent Japanese and totally love the food here. My son and I had the top banquet for two...very nice and more than enough. A small restaurant but well patronized (always a good sign) for a Wednesday night!

Best Japanese in Williamstown because it's the only Japanese restaurant in Williamstown. never the less, the food is cooked, prepared and presented well. Service is ok, However nothing exciting. A bit pricey but a welcome break from Chinese.

It had been about a year since my last visit as I have started going to another Japanese restaurant in Yarraville but that said Yamabuki is very good. The fresh sushi is yummy, the staff are friendly and it is always busy. I think it is time to refresh the menu and the wine list. However this is one of... More
