Our dinner was perfect from start to finish. Every course was excellent with all of us raving about the wonderful flavours and presentation. From the tastes and textures of the amuse bouche (trout tartare), to the starters (arancini, scallops), to the entrees (rainbow trout, chicken,...strip loin), to an excellent bottle of Chablis, we truly enjoyed everything. The apple cider rum sorbet palate cleanser was very special and very delicious. This was our first experience visiting Six Thirty Nine and we were celebrating a special occasion. We will definitely return, whenever an exceptional meal is a gift that we want to give to ourselves. It is casually elegant dining, so you can dress relaxed. If you prefer to dress up a bit, you will not feel out-of-place, as the decor is easy-going, understated elegance. Our server was Devon who is clearly skilled (amazing job uncorking our wine), while also being beautifully warm and friendly. Thank you Six Thirty Nine for making our dinner so wonderfully memorable.More

My wife and I had the tasting menu. Pacing of dishes was great, service was prompt but unobtrusive. All the dishes were well designed and executed, the cook on everything was perfect, the flavor combos were great. Many of the dishes were veggie forward, but...in the best way where we realized part way through how many of the dishes had no primary meat component. This is even more impressive given that the menu is seasonal, not all dishes honed over years. The only dish that wasn't perfect in my opinion was the desert; it came with a honey rosemary cake, but the cake was a touch dry and we didn't get much of the rosemary or honey flavors. But every other dish was perfect, and it's one of the best tasting menus we have had anywhere. Highly recommend.More

We always try to select unique places to celebrate our special moments, and for our second wedding anniversary, Mike and I had the BEST evening at sixthirtynine in Woodstock. The restaurant features a locally sourced seasonal menu of beautifully prepared foods by chef Eric Boyer,...Josh, Sam, and Pete that are as delectable as they are visually appealing. The amuse buche was a carrot beignet with ricotta; we shared pork belly and truffled gouda arancini as an appetizer; we both enjoyed the organic spring green salad with toasted almonds and strawberry vinaigrette; the intermezzo was a spiced rum apple cider sorbet; for mains, Mike had the dry aged beef sirloin, while I had the spring lamb prepared three ways; Mike had the chocolate tart for dessert, and I had the peach creme brûlée. The meal was outstanding and we could not have been more graciously received by co-owner, Jennifer Boyer, who made sure everything exceeded expectations and Devon, a new server, who was absolutely lovely and the utmost, sweetest professional. We highly recommend sixthirtynine and can’t wait to revisit!More

After two awesome visits, we decided to treat our birthday boy to the Fall tasting menu. It was an incredible evening of entertainment, conversation and culinary delights. While Eric was planning the restaurant and menu at Oxford Hills, Sam and Josh took over the kitchen...at 639. The meals they put out are impressive and it was cool that Sam delivered the plates with an explanation about their content and preparation. Jennifer was also readily available to answer any questions! It is a seven course meal and begins with a chef’s choice amuse bouche. The first course was a rainbow trout crudo with trout roe and rice crisps - it truly was a work of art and tasty too! Then warm homemade sourdough bread with whipped butter. Soup of the day was an earthy smooth as silk mushroom with a dollop of creme fraiche. I am not usually a fan of chicken liver but the pate was mild, and garnished with crispy chicken skin and beet greens- another attractive presentation. Next came a lovely piece of seared Lake Erie pickerel topped with a plump ravioli and accompanied by a meaty King Oyster mushroom, corn, puffed rice and corn sprouts. Presentation is an outstanding feature and beckons for a pause before diving in! This was followed by a palate cleansing apple cinnamon sorbet with spiced rum. The main of seared beef ribeye was actually my least favourite dish. I had to do a bit of trimming and I would have preferred roasted carrots to pickled ones and perhaps the addition of some kind of carbohydrate. Dessert was fairly simple- a graham cracker cookie sandwich stuffed with pear compote and served with earl grey ice cream - simple, but a fitting end to a marvelous dining experience. We enjoyed an incredible evening at the chef’s table!More

My wife really enjoyed her meal mine was OK good The experience that we had for the dining was very nice full service dining service was very good and I have heard that this place is expensive but I would disagree I think it’s a...good bang for your buck not cheap but definitely not expensive are meal came to $130 for two with one alcoholic drink appetizer entrée and dessert very good value. In talking to the waitress at the end of our stay we found out that you could request a chef’s table when you make a reservation and you can watch all the feud be prepared while you eat it I think this will be a fun experienceMore

We had a delicious meal on the patio at 639. Lovely slow pacing of service, generous portions and warm, friendly service. We had the trout mousse and beef tartar to start, the pickerel and Berkshire port for mains. All were delicious. The real standout was...the fried eggplant served with my pickerel. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert. Highly recommend.More

We reserved for the 1st night of reopening and the place was humming A lovely room in an older house with lots of free parking. They also have beautiful covered garden patio. At the moment, they have limited hours and a limited menu which is...oh so good! Haven’t had a meal this good in a very long time! Our table was such that we could watch 2 talented chefs preparing the meals and the bartender mixing up the house special cocktails. This is classy dining at VERY reasonable prices. Co owner, Jennifer, was our congenial hostess. She takes your order and “ food runners” deliver your plates! They start you with an amuse bouche- a tidbit of trout on a rice wafer. Next comes warm sourdough bread and whipped butter. It’s wonderfully crusty. The menu soup was unavailable but the substitute ginger carrot with creme fraiche & fresh herbs was outstanding. I chose the arancini which was generous and beautifully presented. Next, they brought a a palate cleansing sorbet - apple cinnamon with spiced rum. YUM! The entree of Berkshire pork tenderloin was deliciously tender and accompanied by rosti potato ( a little greasy) and meaty King Oyster mushrooms. Not a fan of fungus but these were delicious!! All this and glasses of wine for 2 was only $121 + tax & tip. They are not open for lunch and Jennifer was referring people to Oxford Hills which I discovered is a golf course they are involved with. You don’t have to be a member to visit the dining room. This dining room is special - I can’t believe it’s been there for 16 years. I didn’t know what I was missing!!!More

Our server Jennifer was excellent. Walked in with no reservation. Thoroughly enjoyed the different flavors of our meal and the steak was done to perfection. The basic salad had a great new spice to it making it better than most places. To top off the...meal desert was extremely flavourful and unique.More

Run, Don't Walk to this very polished gem. Recommended by a good friend we chose it for a family birthday dinner ... what a superb choice we made. Tough COVID times they be, but we were made so welcome and felt so comfortable from the...get-go - because their protocols protect us, their staff and our fullest enjoyment of the wonderful dining experience. From Restau-made bread, to self-grown tomatoes (special call-out here! I think they are grown by Pauline, and they are so deserving of their treatment here). Short but very well-curated wine & craft beer list. Heater nearby kept us just fine on the patio. Caring, non-intrusive wait-staff (with twinkles in their eyes) kept us very well attended to. To list our dishes distracts from the others that I have no doubts are as pleasing. Be sure to get reservations. Loyal patrons know a good thing and keep them busy. Very much worth the trip in from Stratford ... we will be back because what they do and how we enjoyed what they do, ticks all the right boxes. Thank you for a delightful evening.More
