Dickens is one of those locations that remain fixed in time - in a good way.
This is a British style pub and what you get is friendly and professional service with excellent pub food. Add to this a good wine list to the obvious beer selection and it would be difficult to improve on the experience.
I was impressed when our server asked if the steak and kidney pie, which wasn’t on the menu, was still available. It was and was delicious. Our other meal orders were plentiful and tasty.
Charles Dickens is a model of what a British pub should be

Woodstock. Moving from BC and now living in Ontario we have found an eatery that has consistently made great hand crafted home comfort food on each of our visits. This weeks lunch was most excellent. Sweetie had a Chicken Pot Pie w/Coleslaw and I devoured the perfect Lamb on Nann Burger w/ crispy fries, and w/ pub curry gravy. The Beef Dip is hard to be passed up which is still hard not to
reorder.
I am now at peace knowing that the family run Charles Dickens Pub make in house great food with a passion serving the best made by hand. One great place to meet friends and enjoy the friendly atmosphere.

First time to Charles Dickens in Woodstock. Although a short wait for a table, busy is a good sign!, we really enjoyed our drinks, appetizers and main course. Our server was fun and informative in helping us decide with the menu.
We'll definitely be back!

From the reviews we read we were expecting great things. Well... it was okay. Maybe it was an off night. The food was average except for the spinach pan dip. This was very good. The server seamed over run with tasks. There was no staff to bus the tables and she had to try to keep up. The cost was a bit high for average tasting food. Not sure if I’d go back.

An early Mother’s Day meal was had last night at the Charles Dickens. There was a lively crowd and we enjoyed a fantastic meal!! I had the Liver and Onions with broccoli, brussels sprouts and carrots with mashed potatoes and my hubby had the Hot Roast Beef on garlic toast with onions and peas and fries. DELICIOUS and no room for dessert unfortunately. So happy to know the lockdown didn’t destroy this wonderful business!

I like this restaurant. There are many menu options, including traditional English dishes. This place is always busy! It is a pub, so it can be quite loud - just all the patrons having a great time. The food is good and reasonably priced. For an English Pub experience, you need to check this place out.

We looked forward to coming here, as we love British fare. It was our first time. We came right at the busy supper rush, so getting seated and getting our meal took some time. That was to be expected. It has a lovely atmosphere, and the service was efficient and friendly. The meal was good, but nothing to rave about. Still, it was filling and tasty. I found it difficult to carry on a conversation at our table as it was very noisy. A lot of different conversations going on around and voices traveling from everywhere. They could use some soundproofing. We will come again at a less busy time.

My family and I are visiting from Kenya, East Africa and our family took us here. This is my first time at the pub and I had a wonderful time. I had the cod and chips and it was so good! I haven't had fish and chips that good since before we moved to Kenya years ago. I've never been to a real English pub but Charles Dickens is what I always imagined one would look like. Great atmosphere, conducive to just sitting abd chatting with friends and family. The service was excellent and speedy. If you ever find yourself in Woodstock, make sure you stop into Charles Dickens Pub, you'll be glad you did.

Great place to dine and have some fun. It was wing night and they were awesome start of our meal! I had the Yorkshire Pudding Bowl Roast Beef and it was unbelievably delicious! The toffee bread pudding was a great finisher. Ambience was great and the service was awesome! Prices are great for quantity and quality. Only street parking available

We absolutely loved the dinner we had here. The portions and quality of the food is absolutely fantastic for the price. Great value! Our server was fantastic. I dont remember her name but she was pregnant. One of the best servers I've ever had at any restaurant. Not only complaint I have is how noisy it is, but it's a pub in a small space, not much can be helped about that. I would 100% recommend this place for lunch or dinner.

It’s been too long, since eating here. The pub wasn’t as busy as usual, partially due to the number of unvaccinated people in the area.
We ordered a pint of our favourite beers and I ordered bangers and mash.
My husband ordered their fish tacos.
Food was hot and delicious!!
Our server was terrific!!

Had lunch here today for the first time since the lockdown.
Warmly greeted by one of the lovely servers.
We ordered wings, bangers and mash and a pint of our favourite beers.

Had lunch here yesterday and it's nice to be here again. We have only been here twice since the beginning of the pandemic.
Our server was lovely, friendly and attentive.
I ordered the beef dipper and my husband ordered the club sandwich. Went down nicely with our pints of Kilkenny.

This is my favourite pub in Woodstock.
Loved every minute in here every Sunday supping the excellent Guinness.
It was like being back home in England. The only thing better than the Guinness were the excellent staff.
I wish I could give this review more than 5 green dots.
Don’t take my word for it, get yourself down there.
Can’t wait to return one day.
Cheers!!!👍🍺🇬🇧🇨🇦
