The food was very good. I had a Ruben and always love it. Very good band that Saturday Night. If I wasn't so tired, I would have danced with the music. Nice, cozy atmosphere. My friends really enjoyed their evening at the Winch.

Have visited this pub/restaurant before and found it acceptable. This time, from entering the door to leaving it was awful. Entered and saw lots of empty tables. We were going to seat ourselves, but were told to wait. Waited 5-10 minutes before we were seated....Order was taken promptly and drinks arrived quickly, then it went downhill. Waited 30 minutes for the food. I had ordered Steak and Ale Pie. When it came, the fries were shriveled and obviously reheated. The flaky pastry on the pie was like a hard thin piece of overcooked pastry. My partner had the French Dip which was fair, but also had the same stale fries. I told our waitress my meal was unacceptable, and with disinterest she said, “You will have to wait while they cook another”, and she walked away. I wasn’t going to wait for another 30 mins, so we grabbed another waitress, who told us the flaky pastry makings they received that day was not very good (maybe it should not have been served!!). She took the meal away and told us it would be deducted from the bill. We shared my partners French Dip, drank our beer, paid, and left. Not an apology from any member of the staff. We will not return, and we definitely do not recommend the place.More
the musice was to load asked the staff to turn it down she told us it was a bar and the owner wanted it that load never again
Pub setting. Very nice. Food was good. We had fish and chips but roast beef looked pretty tempting. Busy/lively. A good British pub. 1/2 and 1/2 ordered twice and both times not poured right. Totally mixed. Pour half later first. Then pour Guinness over spoon...to diffuse without going to deep so the two layers separate. Waitress was good. Service fast. Liked setting.More
One of our regular spots for dinner in Dundas. Food's good, service pleasant — and on our last visit they really showed their colours. I was 45 minutes away after leaving when I discovered I did not have my wallet. Panic. I sure hope it...fell out when I put my coat on to leave the Winchester Arms. Quick phone call, and they couldn't have been nicer. They had found it and, unlike a big, impersonal operation, had waited to see if the owner (me) would call. All the experience cost me was an hour and a half's driving back to the Winchester and home again. Humane, small-town service. And the food was good, too.More
I came with my child and from the get go we felt unwelcome. Nobody pointed out kids menu. Our service took over 40 minutes (while the 2 guys ahead that came in same time as us and ordered food 5 minutes ahead already got and...ate their food while we were still waiting, with a child) waitress disregarded us as much as she could, I had to flag her down to get my son another drink.. I did not appreciate the waitresses attitude snapping back at me when I asked when we wired gonna get fed. She did not take ownership of the situation. Did not apologise. Did not offer food updates. But maybe I’m expecting too much! But if I’m expected to pay these prices- I expect decent service. This is not the case here. Will not be coming back. Family unfriendly.More
We just moved to Dundas in the fall and have frequented the Winchester a number of times. Quality and customer service are consistently high!
Dropped in last Sunday afternoon on our way to our son’s hockey game. Loved the atmosphere / environment. Incredibly friendly staff (thanks for whipping up a hot chocolate for our daughter with a couple unexpected cherries on top). We’re making a trip or two out...to Dundas in the coming months just to visit the Winchester Arms!More
We recently moved to the area and wanted to check out the local restaurants. A friend recommended the Winchester Arms and we were not disappointed! The moment we entered the restaurant to the moment we left, we were treated with the BEST service we have...ever had at the hands of our service Angie. Not only was she extremely helpful and knowledgeable but she was also the most friendly, positive and just all around lovely server we have ever had. She has definitely made our night and we can’t wait to come back (hopefully when she is working so we can see her again!) From: the bald guy and the blonde girlMore
The British pub fare is good here. The environment is a mix of a true British pub house and a bit of old lady decor, but all good . The prices have gone up a lot in recent years and is now in line with...higher end restaurants in the area.More
Lunch was delicious, reasonably priced and the waitress very friendly. Dundas is a self contained town within the region of Hamilton, it has a lovely main Street with unique local shops.
The advertisement is for “half-price wings” on Tuesdays. What an incredible disappointment. The service, as usual, was fine, but the “half-price wings” were awful. $15 is the regular price for 7 or 8 wings. We got two orders for $15 and got 15 of the...smallest wings we had ever seen; it is difficult how anyone could possibly have charged $2 per wing (regular price). They were about 1/4 the size you might pick up at a local supermarket that offers cooked food. Our group will certainly not be back for this offer again.More
The Winchester Arms is a great British Pub located in the lovely town of Dundas. It is right on the main street and has plenty of street parking nearby. A large group of us had lunch here and this was the only restaurant that was...willing to accommodate us. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the restaurant had a large back room area, with its own restroom, that was set up for our group's lunch. There was your typical pub fare on the menu at reasonable prices. I ordered the Steak and Guinness which was delicious - they were very generous with the steak and the pastry on top was to die for. The waitstaff were all very good and the manager was great. I will definitely stop here again when I am in the area, not just because of the tasty food, but also because of the friendly and welcoming service.More
This cozy pub features many pub favourites; fish ‘n chips , bangers ‘n mash, and a good selection of beers on tap. Quiet booths for date nights :)
It's a nice pub. Friendly staff and patrons. They have live bands on certain nights so that was a pleasant surprise. The portions are BIG - seriously. You could probably split a portion between two. I had the Fish and Chips and it was fresh...and tasty. Its a great British Pub atmosphere. They have sections with "booths" sort of like a diner and another section which is more like tables and chairs. All are clean and comfortable. The food is inexpensive but delicious.More
