Why have people rated it so highly?

I just don’t recognise this place from the reviews on TripAdvisor. It was awful, apart from the location which is great for people watching. The tapas we had were the WORST weave ever had in Spain, jaw droppingly terrible. The ingredients were poor in quality...and the presentation was very, very plain. Do yourself a favour and give it a miss. If you do go, don’t have the anchovies, chicken or bacon bread.More

Great tapas, prices, location & service

My husband and I came across this restaurant while walking in Ronda looking for a late breakfast, early lunch. We looked at the menu and noticed there were Good prices, spanish ate there. We decided to take the chance. Right in the middle of Ronda's...square. We sat in the middle of the hustle and bustle of all, facing the church where a wedding was actually taking place. We ordered tapas. For the Main dish My husband ordered a dressed tomato and I ate A goat cheese salad. That was THE best salad ever. Large portions so careful how you order. It became very busy an hour later. We also had wine and beer. They serve you bread, one might think it is free, it is not. We paid 1 euro for bread we did not order. Apart from that all was well. Atmosphere was VERY pleasant and welcoming. Handicap, family and kid friendly. Thank you so much for your service.More

Good quality, cheap

Good quality, cheap and In good location. My brother recommended to eat at the square in Ronda. This place have small dishes and tapas. Food it’s really good and you can find seat in the terrace and enjoy the sun with amazing views of the...church. The best part are the prices. I was expecting expensive food being at the main square of this touristic-city, but for two people after few dishes and drinks we paid 31 euros!!! Find this terrace in front of the church if you don’t want to spend much eating Spanish Tapas! I am Spanish and I can tell you food was good!More

Best place

This little place is one that I don’t really want to tell anyone about, I want to keep it for myself. But if you have a chance, go there. We wanted to come for dinner but they were only open for lunch. We had lunch...there and let the waiter choose 4 tapas each for us and a wine of his choice. Best food We had in Spain and so nice waiters. Will eat all mals here if comming back to Ronda.More

Good food but not great.

Good food but not great. We had four tapas. Braised beef, smoked fish,shrimp curry with rice, pork sandwich and chorizo sandwich. All in all they are good.

furniture wax palace

This place is actually worth more stars as their food was really nice BUT .. for some reason they do not clean the tables with a sponge and water (and maybe soap) but spray them generously with furniture wax after each customer. Also, they do...not care if this goes on food or on customers in adjacent tables. This means that although it might be a pleasant place with good food you sit in a cloud of disgusting furniture polish the entire time. If that is ok for you, go there definitely!More

La Taberna has the best tapas I have tasted. Great service and good value in a comfortable environment. Excellent wine and coffee.

Great find, busy little place

Saw the tomato dish and had to go and try it. Its really worth it. Tapas was otherwise really good, gambas was awesome. Highly recommend their local regional desert of fried eggy bread with ice cream it's amazing.
