I came here for a Sunday lunchtime roast with a group of colleagues from the Woodland Trust. My first impression from the outside was that it looked like a good old fashioned country pub, but a bit remote, you would need transport to visit unless you live local and there did not seem to be much in the way of... Driven past many times on a Tuesday forgetting it's closed! But finally visited when it's open! Not disappointed, great little pub in the surrounding woodland. Healthy portions of food, one of our party had the steak and kidney pie, you won't go hungry after eating that (if you can finish it). Will definitely return!

We've driven past this pub many times but never actually visited until today. My husband and I plus a friend decided to try this pub out for food at lunchtime. What a great experience it was. Lovely venue; friendly and excellent service and food was also wonderful. The whole area was spotless and it was a great experience. Definitely recommend... More

Enjoyed an excellent meal here with two friends last night. We all ordered from the specials board, one of us with a special request. This was accepted and prepared without question. Delicious crispy duck & vegetable stirfrys & tender lamb shank. Service came with a smile. The eating area was fairly quiet but by the time we left at around... More

This was the third time we have eaten here and would thoroughly recommend it. I must admit I was quite shocked when I read the negative reviews for this place and cannot understand why the bad comments. We love this little gem of a pub and the food is absolutely delicious. We have always had brilliant service and everything about... More

Having run this establishment for 27 years, the owners could/should run training courses for other publicans. The welcome is warm, the staff busy, efficient & friendly, The menu is varied & the food is plentiful & tasty. The prices are VERY reasonable. Glory hallelujah ! there is no "background" music - just gentle ripples of friendly conversation and laughter. A... More

Went for Sunday lunch. Food passable, which is more than be said about landlord. When I paid the bill, he never asked if the meal was OK. I suspect that the place has a big passing trade and he is not bothered if you don't go back.
